Q: what happens if you try this on an induction hob?

Nothing it is not made from ferrous metal. Didn’t realise this and had to send mine back

no you don't need to put water in the black cups just a little water in the poacher then a tiny bit of butter in the cups. G ood luck.

Yes of course you can. We cook 1 egg on occasions, just leave the other poaching cups in place to keep the steam in. Don't let incompetent replies put you off.

Q: does it take large eggs

Yes it just about fits large eggs. It wont fit extra large i don't think. the plastic cups are easy to clean just wipe with some oil before putting eggs in . Don't buy the more expensive metallic ones they don't work. I've been using these for months almost daily and had no problems. Be careful not to heat the glass lid to really hot and then put it into cold water. only use the lid for the poacher. I tried to use it on something else and broke it. Besides that it's been excellent.
