Do roses smell great?

Roses normally smell nice. However, my seeds grew wild roses (dog rose) and are tiny and don't really have much of a scent.

Hi, How many years does it take before these Rose seeds sprout?

My grew withing 2-3 months over winter indoors. Then planted outside in Spring in pots and then flowered!

Do you need to add more compost on top of the seeds?

No, you make a hole in the center, drop in seeds, and then brush it back over. You won’t need more until you need to repot it.
