My team of males in their 20s prefers this over my $50 Tachikara SV5W
I recently started a rec league with ~15 of my friends who are all males in their 20s. None of us really know much about volleyball. I originally bought a ball from wal-mart thinking all volleyballs were the same. Nope! That thing was like a brick on the arms ( I have now thrown it away. It was the same price as this ball ). Everyone was complaining and talking about how much it hurt. Personally I really like volleyball so I didn't want this to discourage anyone. So I decided to get 3 more balls, and see if any were better.I bought this ball, the Tachikara SV5W (the best rated ball I could find which was on soft), and one came with the net I bought.Like I said, none of my friends really knew anything about volleyball, but as a social experiment, I didn't tell them about how much each cost, or that this appeared to be essentially made for 12 year old girls. This quickly became everyone's preferred ball. So I figured I had to give it 5 stars. No more complaints about forearms hurting! Men evidently like this one too!Added bonus: My gf who has always been afraid of volleyball (legit terrified) picked this ball up and decided that if someone spiked this ball at her face it really wouldn't be that bad, and she might play with us next time! Another 5 stars from me!Perhaps the pros know why the $50 Tachikara SV5W is better than this ball, but none of my friends have thought so. I've only heard very positive comments from my male and female friends in their 20s. I will gladly buy this ball again.

Have to say a bit disappointed. Both balls are for recreational play only
I brought both the Mikasa squish VB and the Tachikara Zebra in order to compare them side by side. Have to say a bit disappointed. Both balls are for recreational play only, they're not up to spec. in term of air pressure for indoor gameplay (around 4.5 lbs) Zebra can be inflated to 4 lbs and Squish can only be inflated to 3 lbs. As the result zebra is a bit more bouncy than Squish. Both balls weight roughly 9 oz inflated. Squish has a glued panel construction and Zebra has a stitched panel construction. Squish looks more round than the ridged look of Zebra due to the construction. Both balls have about the same touch for upper hand pass. On hitting and digging the Zebra feel more squishy like the beach volleyball and the zebra feel more like the indoor volleyball but this difference probably due to the air pressure. I don't feel sting from either balls but I am not the measuring yard stick and "feel" is subjective. Both balls cost about the same and should do fine for rec play.

Soft and fun to play in the backyard, safe for all ages
We are not professional volleyball players and I need the ball to play casually in the backyard. In my earlier experience, I was not fond of usual volleyball because it hurts my wrist and arms depending on where the ball makes the contact. This ball takes care of all of the issues. It is soft and doesn't cause any sting on the contact. It doesn't mean that ball is way too soft as it stays on path even during windy hours. The look and feel is safe for the players of any age including kids as it this ball targeted my several vulnerable parts and it didn't hurt me at all ;-) I would have given 5 stars but ball came little deflated so now It is a pain for me to buy a needle attachment to plug in my bike pump for inflating the ball. This is a good starter ball for fun, keep your expectations in check and you will be more than happy. Rely on me because I rely on my experience.

Actually Soft
We bought this volleyball to play beach volleyball with at our local beach (there are always nets up!). This ball is great and super soft - perfect for a fun game of beach volleyball. We had purchased a different ball from a local store first, and it was way to hard for us to get used to, since we hadn't played volleyball in like... a decade. We took it back and decided to try this one instead. It is just right!

Expected minimal durability. It lasted 9 months and was only lightly used for home practice. We have a gauge to properly inflate the ball.First, it went flat all the time. We fixed that problem after a few months with a 1.5 oz. latex injection. But once the ball held air, the seams gave out two months later.

Nice, at first ..
I have to give this ball a two. It has a very nice appearance when you first buy it, but its made out of cheap like foam. I was very dissapointed after a few times practicing with it. It has very awkward ridges in it making the ball not straight when you hit it or causes it to go all over the place. Now it doesn't even look like as I bought it, Ive only used it about 3 times and it just looks like specs of black and green. I only bump and set it in the yard, and only for short periods of time. So I do not suggest this ball if you expect it to be like you first bought it.

I love this outdoor ball
I love this outdoor ball; would expect nothing less from Tachikara. I coached middle school volleyball for the last twelve years, and quickly discovered the better brands. Therefore, I bought this ball for my family and I to use outdoors at our house, as I wanted something softer for my five year old's arms. This ball is fantastic! And it arrived full of air and ready to be played with, which was awes

Great beginner volleyball
My child is starting middle school and just signed up for a rec volleyball class. This ball has been great for practicing at home. It's soft to the touch and doesn't sting or hurt, which in turn extends the length of practice. The only downside is that it does scuff and marr easily on outside surfaces. But it seems to be holding up great and at under 10 bucks it's a great buy.
