Instant flamenco sound.
Last year I bought a second hand (1986) Cuenca 70F, signed and numbered. I’ve been lazy about changing the strings and with the strings it had on it didn’t sound a lot different from a classical. I put these on and suddenly it’s a proper flamenco. The difference in sound is amazing. I didn’t know strings could make such a difference. The strings seem expensive but I would buy them again for the sound quality. I haven’t rated them on longevity because they’ve only been on two weeks.

Excellent choice - if you like the tone
I have tried various strings on my flamenco guitar - Daddario EJ45, Hannabach and Tomatito which all gave a sound that I liked and sounded good whether playing classical or flamenco music. I thought I'd give these a try and the difference in tone has been amazing. The guitar now really sounds like a flamenco guitar, with plenty of "attack", but the downside is that it doesn't sound as good when playing classical pieces. I appreciate that every guitar is different and it may just be the effect on my guitar which may not be the same as someone else's. As other reviewers have said, they do need breaking in but for me it's worth it. And for the classical pieces - maybe it's a reason to buy another guitar ......

Med tension composite core basses VG, hard tension nylon trebles OK
A good string set and the custom tension, hard tension trebles and the med tension basses, was supposed to even-up string tension to facilitate picado. However, I find the ordinary medium tension composite core basses with composite 3rd string actually better (i.e. set EJ45C) , and is cheaper than the flamenco set. Both sets share the same med tension composite core bass strings, but I find the EJ45C med tension trebles with composite 3rd much nicer to play. The composite core bass strings are VG and keep their lively sound for 9 months or more, unlike ordinary nylon core basses which seem to fade away after 2 months or so. I recommend the EJ45C set (circa £12) as they are really good on my flamenco guitar and last ages. There is an even better custom alternative using D’Addario string half sets: SCF-3B composite core flamenco tension bass string set, circa £8 ; HBN-3T hybrid, carbon G/B, clear nylon E, normal tension treble string set, circa £8. This custom combination is excellent on my flamenco guitar, and has very even tension across the strings. Also, these strings last very well and still sound good after 12 months of use, apart from the 1E nylon string that seems to lose its zing after 3 - 4 months and has been replaced twice. The so-called carbon G and B strings are actually polymers of flouro-carbon, rather than the polymers of hydro-carbon found in ordinary nylon. The flouro-carbon material has higher tensile strength and density, so has higher tension and smaller diameters compared the ordinary hydro-carbon nylon equivalents. My flamenco guitar is an entry level model (Admira Triana) and really benefits from these lively strings, but if you use a posh luthier flamenco guitar that is naturally loud and lively, then these strings may prove to be too powerful and overwhelm the instrument. For example, I find with my artisan classical guitar (Admira Carmen) that ordinary pro-arte nylon strings (light tension EJ43) suit it the best. However, I only play for pleasure/therapy at home, whereas you need to find what best suits your requirements and should also try the EJ45TT string set, which works very well with entry and artisan instruments.

Best strings
I think these are the best strings I have ever used. They last ages and after months sound great and I think they are strong.I used to have the Dario classics

Great strings
Excellent service, delivered in under 20 hours of ordering. The strings feel and sound amazing! Best way to upgrade a guitar. My cheap Stagg now sounds like a more expensive guitar, feels better too. I'm actually playing better.

Excellent strings
I play Spanish Classical and 'Cafe Flamenco' in a Tapas bar in Southampton and since fitting these new D'Addario Flamenco strings have had even more compliments and thi8s time to do with the clarity and projection of the sound and that is unamplified. I have always used D'Addario Classical guitar strings in the past but will stick with these. The black treble strings are also a good talking point.

Misleading description.
I've bought these strings a couple of times now and despite this statement in the description, "EXTRA STRING - This set has black nylon treble strings, with an extra, optional composite 3rd/G-string for increased projection" There is no extra string.

Tremendous tone and percussive qualities. Great for flamenco but also for whatever. Just a great set of strings.
