Q: Can this be used without the remote control

Yes you can use this jukebox without the remote. The remote is good though for changing the EQ (Bass & Treble) .

Q: Can you have lights on stationary

The lighting system is either on, or off (can be turned on/off on the Remote or on the Jukebox), they go through a sequence, not able to stop on a colour as asked.
