Works when it wants to work

For the most part, it works as it should. Sometimes I get the correct voltage (yes. I have and know how to use a multimeter…) to activate it. But it just doesn’t activate. If I hit the back of the lift gate near the catch, I can usually get it to open. I tried this with the hatch both open and closed. To test it while open, I pushed in the tongue to trick the hatch into thinking it was closed. The voltage and resistance between when the hatch worked and didn’t work were the same. So, I can’t understand why it would sometimes open and sometimes not open. It’s a bit of a pain to crawl over the back seats and pop open the manual override cover to manually get the hatch open. I use my CRV mostly as a work vehicle and have tools and supplies that I keep in that area. I now make sure to leave room for me to get to the back just in case it doesn’t open. Another thing that’s strange is that if it doesn’t open and I’m in a hurry to leave, when I get where I’m headed, the hatch will open 99% of the time. It’s a strange phenomenon. Unfortunately, I’m passed the window for returning the part. I wasn’t driving it until I had fixed the rear differential noise and vibration (make sure you use Honda Oils for Honda vehicles! It will save you a lot of frustration and concerns!).

I bought this two times for my 2010 Honda Pilot. Finally I had to take it to the dealear who told me that I the part is not working as it should and that it need to be replaced with Honda part. Once Honda part was installed my rear hatch door opened and closed as it should. I don't know what the issue is with this product but I bought is in July and again in October both times bad part.

I replace this latch on my Honda CRV trunk and it works. No complains so far.
