Ok: I realize that there are two previous 5 ratings and I do not dispute that, nor is it my intent to denigrate this razor or vendor. I will break down the criteria and ratings below: Value against more expensive brands- 5 Value for the money 5+ Would I recommend it as a first or subsequent razor purchase-5+ Blade Sharpness- 5+ (Was SHAVE READY on delivery; no question about it. I did stop it as suggested). Blade edge- 3.5 ( The rounded edges were off angle and needed polishing) Them again a little time on a ceramic stick and stop was all that was needed! Metal to wood fit-4 ( A little off in just a couple of spots). Blade position when closing and closed-4.5 ( A little canted, but I had to look hard to notice. Does not nick sides!). Wood Handles-5++ ( I am a traditional guy and I love the handles and well defined wood grain and finish). Assembly pins-3.75 (One side is not as nicely set as the other, but not a big deal). Tightness of assembly-5 (There is not any rattle or wiggle). Sheath-5+ (A really nice sheath, uniform color, nice logo, stitching is great). All things considered this is a great razor. The manufacturer has a great product here: Keep up the good work! Yes there are a few details that rated less than four, but as I have learned in business: these are jut opportunities to show how well one can exercise ones talent to improve! Those 5+ ratings offset any ratings less than 5 to give this razor in it's class a SOLID 5!!! Just what I was looking for!!! Blade finish-4 ( a few issues, but nothing to deter me from purchasing another Gold Dollar Razor later!)

Great razor for the price. It’s as good as more expensive razors. It is sharp enough to shave but could be a little sharper for a smoother shave. Can’t beat it for less than $100

Its,my first. I like it. Even more after using a "copper black" to oxidize the iron. Love it, Now It looks more vintage and like real iron. The blade is not sharp enough and it doesnt keep it sharp for long. I think ill need to learn how to sharpen it better. The wood was cracked on one side, but its only on the surface. The knife and handle feels nice in the hand. I did use some cuttingwood oil on the handle. It might have made it darker. Its all made in China. The soap, its ok. Not great but ok. The leather.. it's eh.. All in all its most likely 3. Yet it's a good razor just to figure out if this is for you. But be warned.. your arms and legs will get patches with no hair.. when u sharpening it.

I was not aware of differing weights on straight razors. This is on me and the big A is not accountable. Other than this I am very satisfied with the items and purchases. More later Thanks D

I hate leaving negative reviews and thought long and hard about writing this. I believe the people who made this straight razor did the best they could. When most quality straight razors sell for upwards of $130.00 I was foolish to think I could find bargain at this price. Metal quality is poor. Blade was too full to cut a thick and coarse beard which is what I have. Also they blade had some small stains. I don't know if is rust but not going to take a chance. I'm returning this item. This proved to me that items like this you get what pay for. Take your $30.00 and buy a nice shavette of which there are many to choose from. Buy a nice straight razor when you have the money to do so which is what I will do.

The razor is shave ready and has a nice balanced weight. It comes with a soft case which is convenient.

Item arrived looking great, this razor is advertised as ready to use out of the package. That is not the case, my 15 dollar Gillette Pro Gide can do a better shave than this blade, I would recommend looking for a better razor than this one. I have used my strope to try and prefect it and it seemed to help a little but still needs more time on the strope.
