Zinsser Peel Stop Clear Binding Primer 1 Litre ZINPSP1L

This product is brilliant as long as it’s used correctly. I’ve used Zinsser products before but not this particular one. I had some stone window sills ( previously painted with masonry paint) to re-paint and they were pretty flaky and chipped. Having spent a day with a scraper removing all the loose paint I decided I needed to prime the surface before applying more masonry paint. I checked out Zinsser because their products are usually excellent and came across this. So having read all the instructions you do need to prepare the surfaces well before using. I’d already removed the flaky paint so I needed to sand with a rough sandpaper and wash them off with my chosen cleaner to remove all grease and dirt and any mould and moss needed treatment too. Please note this product does not work on surfaces that are damper than 14 %. You can check with a damp meter. So wherever you are using it you must deal with any damp issues first. If you don’t your top paint surface will bubble. On opening the tin the peel stop is the consistency of milk. It needs to be this thin so it creeps under any raised edges to stick them down and stop them peeling. It applies really well with a brush and has great adhesion as long as you’ve done the preparation. The coverage is fantastic…it goes a long way. It dries in two to four hours depending on the weather. I found it was dry in two as it was warm and sunny. You can get away with one coat but if your surfaces are bad you can apply two. You are left with a slightly shiny surface. I left the window sills overnight and then applied two coats of masonry paint. The results were excellent. I had no bubbling, no peeling and despite the sills being over 120 years old they look great. I’m definitely going to try this on my bathroom ceiling as that does have a tendency to peel. So in conclusion this is a great product that does what it says it will as long as you follow the instructions and don’t apply on surfaces that require damp treatment.

Brilliant stuff. Never heard anyone ever moan about peel stop. Is worth the price. Dries really quick. The finished look always looks so much better when you use all the right stuff. I think everyone should have a tin, can be used for loads of things. Doesn't smell strong. Brilliant adhesion

I noticed on a couple of reviews for this product the contents of the tin had leaked inside a sealed bag from the tin even though it had strong tape across the lid during transit delivery. When my order arrived today it had also leaked a small amount as the lid was not fully secured. I have used it though and it does what it is advertised to do good product but there must be an issue regarding transportation

Great and easy to apply. Seems to have worked as a great under coat on my bathroom walls.

Not sure how good this is, had this brand of other products and was a thick consistency, this is like milk, very watery, not sure if that’s how its auto be, but when applying, make sure you have plenty of rags around as it drips everywhere- had ordered 2nd tin but cancelled.

Total lifesaver!!! I will be using this before any painting from now on whether it needs it or not! 😅 I was struggling to paint over some old paint and even after sanding/cleaning it was bubbling. This stuff went on like a dream and the new paint went on so easy! Good coverage, so easy to use and dries really quickly. 10/10

This is the only thing that stopped years of bathroom ceiling palling torture! Fab stuff.
