A superb dehumidifier that really gets the job done
This is a very good unit, it is very quiet relative to other units I have used, and highly effective. Its' so powerful I was able to "dial down" the humidity level in my garage from 75% to 55% in just over a day, even thought the ambient temperature was around 5 degrees, and the humidity has stayed stable at that level for several weeks now, and it runs 24x7 so its' a very tough ask, and so far its been rock solid. It has very simple setup / settings "out of the box", so you don't need to use any of the more advanced features unless you want to, and I found the clear & logical menu's pretty easy to follow anyway.I use my garage for intensive hobby woodwork, so it is very dusty / challenging, and I bought the Meaco to replace my second Eco Air unit that died after only 18 months (the first went on for 3 years, and worked pretty well). The Meaco unit is head and shoulders the best I've had yet. I called customer service before buying, to ask some questions, and they were really helpful. It is early days on longevity, but the build quality is excellent. I would highly recommend this product.

Superb dehumidifier
Amazing resultsSeems a lot of money but you definitely get what you pay forKeeps damp and humidity down brilliantlyYou can also dry washing in the room it is in if you need to, it really takes out moisture well and the display shows if you need to empty the water container etcEasy to clean and use - superb item

Quality product does the job!
Very happy with this product, used over winter. Surprised how much water it actually drew out of the air. Easy to empty water container: switches off when full, with flashing light alarm: no need for an audible alarm as you know its full when it stops working. Give off a level of heat, too, as it successfully dries the air.Worth the cost of purchase; seek round for deals. very happy with purchase, did the job as promised, and contributed to room warmth: a damp room makes it feel cooler than it really is.

Slightly flimsy and very heavy on electricity but quiet and does what it claims
Having had this for a week or so I'm fairly pleased with its extraction capablities; it's very lightweight and quiet compared to compressor based dehumidifiers but the removable water container feels very flimsy indeed - the plastics here feel thin and poor quality (though the rest of the machine feels adequately built.)On the recommended setting, it's pretty unobtrusive and keeps the relative humidity down to between 40 and 50% - the humidistat doesn't seem particularly consistent but is definitely accurate enough for its purpose. The ioniser function I was slightly sceptical about but in fact I'm fairly sure that it makes a detectable difference - we are using this in a kitchen environment and it does seem to help clear up strong cooking smells or smoke more quickly.Only time will tell how reliable it is in the long term but aside from the electricity consumption (which may reduce a little now that the humidity in our house is under control) we're pleased with it.As an aside, it's fantastic for helping to dry out washing indoors - the clothes come off the airer bone dry and stiff as a board remarkably quickly.EDIT, 11 years later: Still going strong - I can confirm it pulls 347W on its lowest setting but it does warm the room appreciably with some of that heat and massively reduces the condensation on our living room patio door.

Brilliant!
Have read lots and lots of reviews but finally decided on this particular make and model. The reviews helped me, so I hope this helps you. Ordered it yesterday - delivered this morning at 0930. Brilliant! And Amazon were also great because they wavered The Next Day Delivery charges which I inadvertently clicked (only free for Prime customers). We live for in a pre 1900, 4 bed house with 5 people. We have a 50/50 mix of double glazed and single pane windows. Turned the dehumidifier on at 10am and set it on the thumbs up/2nd fan setting. I was initially worried about what people were saying about 'noise', however we were pleasantly surprised how easy on the ears it was, even at this middle setting. The lower setting (which we will set it at in the hallway at night) is extremely quiet and would certainly be ok to have in a bedroom, if that's what you're looking for. There is that smell everyone talks about (including Meaco) and is very noticeable when we first turned it on - lasted about two hours but disappeared and although the smell returned, it was not as strong. According to my research, this odour goes altogether in about a week. Personally I'm ok with the slight smell as I know the machine is doing a very good job...and it really is doing a very good job we have already emptied it twice! We have been having lots of condensation and mould issues for some time now so I'm confident this will do the job and as most of us have allergies, it can only be a good thing. The warm air coming from the Meaco is very nice and the room is definitely warmer and as we have the door open, the hallway also feels better. I now realise why it will save money on fuel bills.Amazon reassured me of the two year warranty so all in all we're very happy we bought the Meaco. It's one of those items you initially worry about buying because of the expense but very quickly get the feeling it was well worth it.
