"Saw tooth" design makes rising warm air spin out into the room reducing the time it takes to heat up the room. 2. Air trapped behind the panel insulates the room against heat loss through the wall. 3. Aluminised panels reflect radiant heat back into radiator so water returns to the boiler hotter so the boiler fires less often. Tips Use Admastik adhesive (available in tube or cartridge) for extra 'sticking power' if the situation arises where the top of the panels unsticks from the wall. Sometimes this can happen due to walls having rough or dusty surfaces, or because the temperature behind the radiator is hotter than average due to lack of circulation (eg behind couch) or older radiator style (less efficient than cooler modern radiators). They are frankly a bit fiddly to retrofit, it takes a long time to attach the two-sided self-adhesive tape and the tape only sticks well on the smoothest of painted surfaces. I shall have to use glue to stick back several panels which have come adrift. And the aesthetics arent great either: the missus hates them. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BACKING PANELS FOR RADIATORS TO INCREASE HEAT EFFICIENCY *by J***S on 25 March 2013* I bought this product to replace similar backings that had been fitted when I bought my house some time ago. The supplied backings looked far more professional than the old ones that were shapeless and had started to come away from the walls. I fitted the backings with ease, as directed, and did not waste any of the supplied material. I used Loctite superglue as well as the supplied double sided tape to ensure that heating of the tape glue would not cause the backings to peel away from the wall. I have successfully fitted this excellent product behind all my radiators...just in time for the return of winter this March.
