The instructions were disappointing because it was printed on a plain sheet of paper with ink that could have been a little deeper. I got a drip of liquid on it and the ink started spreading. Not too bad that I lost all legibility, because it was only a droplet of water that got on it. Anyway, aside from that minor issue, I love this product. It's LORD OF THE RINGS!! What's not to love? I haven't started the project yet, though. I hope it turns out as nice as the picture.

I really enjoyed this kit! The instructions were easy to follow, the thread was well sorted and stored. I turned my finished bookmarks into patches which I put onto a canvas purse. I have gotten so many complements! **A couple of the colors were nearly identical in the diagram and on the actual fabric, so just make sure you're double checking with the finished images.**

I've had a fun time doing these cross stitch patterns so far. This is my first project ever. I have not finished them all yet but it seems like there is enough floss and the kit contained all the essentials to get started. There are a few instructions but if you are a beginner I recommend watching a tutorial first. My completed bookmark looks awesome. I have to detract 1 star for a couple of issues. First, some of the pattern colors are too similar that you really need to scrutinize to tell which is which. I have this listing bookmarked to look at the reference pictures. Second, the backstitching colors on at least one of the patterns is completely wrong. I had to rip out a bunch of black and redo it after checking the listing. Finally there is no information given for how to finish the bookmark (ie, attaching the felt, etc). I had to scour several YouTube videos to see what I needed to do with the materials given. Haven't done this part yet so hopefully it's not a disaster. Overall this is a good product.

The materials are good quality and there is plenty of floss, provided you aren’t super wasteful (if you have half a length of floss or more, maybe hang on to it and use it on another bookmark). The designs translate well into cross-stitch, the felt backing is easy to apply and seems sturdy enough to actually use. The downside is that the colors and symbols can get confusing (similar symbols are printed in too similar colors, making it hard to follow in some places) and figuring out the backstitching is awful. Do not throw away the paper pattern, because you will wind up needing it. Even with those caveats, this was a very enjoyable project and I would pick up more from this company, though I don’t think I would recommend them to a novice cross-stitcher. Edit: One star was removed because one of the pieces (the doors of Durin) was printed on warped cloth resulting in the design being so misaligned that it could not be completed. As I had already completed the other designs, it can't be returned and there seems to be no way to simply replace that one part. Double check your printed canvas before starting to make certain that the printing lines up correctly.

A little challenging, but that makes it worth buying. I love the small details. It's definitely one of my more challenging cross stitch projects.

Loved this project. It came out super cute. Easy to follow for the most part. Some overlapping of symbols, but overall, pretty good.

I purchased the mushroom/plants/cacti bookmarks to make for myself & my son. I started with the mushroom one because my son loves mushrooms and reading. The pattern was really easy (I am not a beginner cross-stitcher), but I STRONGLY disliked the printed colors on the actual fabric. It was difficult to see at times, and I often had to cross-reference the guide on the fabric with the guide on the paper to make sure I was using the right color. It was also hard to see if I missed a spot once it got closer to the end of the project. Well, once it was finished, I was super excited to give it to my son. Then.... per the directions, I started to 'wash' out the ink on the fabric. BAD IDEA. Once the water hit the top of the bookmark, the white thread turned blue! And stayed!! It stained the bookmark!! I was really, really disappointed by this (nearly heartbroken) because I was so proud of how it turned out & so excited to give it to my son and then it was immediately ruined! You can see in the photo where the white is blue (and some of the purple ink leaked on to the flowers). I didn't run water over the rest of it because I didn't want to ruin the whole thing. So, DO NOT WASH THE BOOKMARK! JUST LEAVE IT! I don't think I'm going to do the other two. Those don't even cover the entire bookmark and leaves too much of the 'fabric' exposed.

This was ambitious for my first project, but I loved it! Like other reviewers have said, the Doors of Murin were very challenging as the hot pink color and reddish pink color look identical. I had to continue looking at the reference photo to make sure I was not messing up. In spite of that, I am still leaving 5 stars. This was well organized and designed. It kept me busy for hours and hours and it was the perfect amount of challenging and relaxing.
