Why is the white one almost $40 less than the black one? If anyone knows the answer to this I would love to hear it! edit: The price of this is a puzzle. When I got mine the price of the black one was around $245, but Amazon only charged me $208 for it. The white one was around $216, so I got one to give as a gift in white, and Amazon only charged me $212. I am not complaining, au contrare! I can't guarantee this will happen for you but I suggest you try placing one in your cart to get the real price, as it may be significantly lower than the shown price. edit #2: 11/19/12 I am upping my star rating from four to five stars. We have used this every single day since we got it. I never knew before that there were so many frozen prepared foods that can be used in this. I've made delicious asian dishes in this almost every other day from premade frozen foods such as breaded chicken pieces, stir fry vegitables and sweet and sour sauce, or other asian sauces, some made from scratch. I love just dumping food into this and turning it on and coming back to a cooked meal twenty minutes later. This is ingenious. I was skeptical when this arrived. It is a rather big, heavy machine. It has two buttons on the top of it. One is "on/off" and one is the timer. There is a round non stick pan in the outer plastic shell that is removable, along with a blade in the center, like a bread machine has. I went to the store and got some frozen breaded chicken pieces, a bag of stir fry frozen vegitables, and a jar of orange-ginger sauce. I cooked the chicken pieces, still frozen in the multi-cooker for ten minutes, added the vegitables for another ten minutes, and put in a cup of sauce for another five minutes. I had put in a tablespoon of canola oil. This was the best Chinese dish I have eaten in ten years. I live in a place where the few Chinese restaurants are disgusting. I couldn't believe how tender the chicken was, and yet crisped to perfection on the outside. Served over rice, this was the easiest by far Chinese dish I've ever made. So the machine is a definite keeper. A couple of things are wrong with it. The timer sounds so faintly it is almost useless. You won't hear it at all unless you happen to be right next to the machine when it sounds. Sometimes, it doesn't even go off at all when the timer says time's up. So I have to set another timer as a backup. Although the machine is heavy for it's size, it seems to be entirely made of plastic. Something about the way the cooking pan is loose in the larger outer shell, and the feel of the plastic, doesn't make me feel like this should be such an expensive device. The cord is only about three feet long. I would have liked it to be at least four feet. And the cooking pan is on the small side. You won't be able to prepare a meal for more than two people with this. The included Actifry cookbook is barely ok. For the price of this, it should have been at least twice as thick, with many more recipes. This machine will test my culinary creativity since there aren't a lot of recipes included. There are a few dessert recipes included though which are scrumptios. So for these reasons I took off a star from what, according to the quality of the meals it makes, should really be a five star kitchen appliance. It is actually much closer in quality to a $100 dollar machine. But the food made in this is truely delicious, and so easy!. Put the ingredients in, turn it on and it does the rest. Anyone who loves french fries, and asian dishes should definitely have one of these. No more standing over a steaming wok. And it cooks with only a tablespoon of oil, so it's a healthy way to cook. I didn't think I would like this, but I do love it. The food this makes is fantastic.

I purchased the T-fal Actifry after hearing numerous good reviews on the product. I was looking forward to trying the Actifry for the convenience of how fast it can cook things as well as the healthier way to cook things vs a deep fryer. I have already cooked homemade fries, vegetables, Stuffed squid, squad rings, and chicken. I was amazed at how evenly the food cooks and how quickly some items cook in this vs regular frying or oven cooking. The food was cooked completely through and was cooked to perfection. I love how convenient this product is. When I first heard about the T-fal Actifry I thought it was "Just another french fry cooker", I have been pleasantly surprised with the varieties of food that can be cooked in this device and how delicious each item has been. My favorite so far was the stuffed squid and the squid rings which turned out perfectly, cooked evenly and tasted delicious. I would definitely recommend this item for anyone who is looking for a different way of cooking items. This has went above and beyond what my expectations were for this item. 2 thumbs up for the Actifry. The only thing I would change about this particular model would be adding a back light to the timer so it is easier to see. All in all a great product. Disclaimer: As a product reviewer many of my reviews are written on free or discounted item. This item was purchased by me and was not offered free or discounted for a review, this review is entirely my own and I stand by it.

I've had this fryer for over a year and I love it. I've made a lot of fresh cut French fries and fried chicken (hot wings) through the last 30 years and this is the best fryer I've ever had and I've had a lot of different ones. When this one goes out I'll buy another one if they're still available. There are 3 issues that I think are flaws, the first is that it only has 1 light and it lights up when it's switched on and then goes out once it gets to temp. It should have 2 lights, red to indicate that its on and a green light to indicate when it's up to the set temp. Someone can cut it off and then forget they cut it off and hit the switch again cutting it back on. I actually did this once and didn't realize it until the next day and of course the oil was totally burnt. I unplug it now when I'm not using it. The switch is in an odd place on the side and should be on the top. They need to either have the switch on top so it's easily visible or have the 2 lights or have both. The last issue is the filter, it doesn't really have one which is great for cleaning purposes but all that oily steam comes out all over whatever is above it which for me is a cabinet. I was shocked at this when I first used it, I was kinda dumbfounded. Why would they not put a filter on it? I have a lot of replacement filters from other fryers I've had so what I do is lay a filters on top of the opening and lay a wet paper towel over top of that and it cuts down the oily steam tremendously. That catches a lot of what would be coating my cabinet. These are some pretty major issues to me but besides that it fries good and is a lot easier to clean and store oil than my past fryers. I read where people were saying it leaks oil when filtering so I place a metal tray under it to catch any spilled oil and I luckily haven't had that issue unless it's tilted and the oil container overflows. I have no issues with spillage otherwise. It's a great fryer and I guess I could leave 4 stars because of the flaws I've mentioned but... It's the best fryer I've ever had so I wouldn't feel right about doing that. Maybe they will see this review and address these issues, that would be great.
