YoLink, by YoSmart, a US corporation based in Irvine, California, is a line of wireless smart products for residential and commercial use, utilizing wireless technology initially utilized for industrial and other large-scale applications. This technology, LoRa, short for Long-Range, is unique in the smart home industry and provides you with benefits that include 2 to 10 year battery life, 1/4 mile extreme long range, superior wall and obstruction penetration, including concrete, masonry and even metal!YoLink benefits include a more secure automation network due to a centralized and encrypted internet connection, as the devices are not on the internet and they do not rely on WiFi. Review: A little complicated to set up but I think it is only because it is so versatile. I only hooked it to one sensor. The hub is required because the sensor itself does not connect to Wi-Fi. It must go through the hub. I tested the water level in my sump, the alarm sounded but I found it not quite loud enough. I’m not sure if I would hear it when I’m asleep upstairs. Once again, it took me quite a while to hook it up to my email. That also works so the product does what it says. I wanted to hook it up to a second email. However, in order to do that the other person needs to set up an account. I thought that should be a little simpler. However, I’m not sure what the technology requires. I purchased a longer cable and that enabled me to mount the sensor alarm in a living area as opposed to my crawl space. I am more likely to hear it now but I feel it is still not loud enough. I would prefer an alarm that would wake the dead- I do not want water damage despite having installed an alarm. Good product - does what it says. NOTE I am somewhat hearing impaired.

**Q: Why do I need a hub??**
A: Many smart devices use WiFi. This can be convenient, but it can bog down your WiFi and add potential security risks. YoLink devices only connect to a YoLink hub, and the hub is the only thing that connects to your network.

**Q: Will it work without internet or WiFi?**
A: The hub does require an internet connection. It uses a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection, and/or ethernet (plug into your router). It will not work without an internet connection.

**Q: How many devices can I put on my hub?**
A: There is no set number, but we encourage you to get a second hub when you approach 200 devices. That will ensure a single failure later will not keep anything from working. And, adding a second hub can expand the range of your system.

Having used a lot of home automation devices over the years (including X-10 and Z-Wave), this one is superior. Their installation process is quick and simple. They supply QR codes to get you started. The smart phone app is easy to use and intuitive. Another good thing is there are no fees to operate it unless you have a lot of sensor activity (high SMS traffic), but the fees are modest. I have heard that integrating to Alexa might be a problem but since I don't use that, I don't care. Having just installed it, only time will tell if it is truly a winner. However, since the hubs are inexpensive, I plan on getting a spare. I believe that installing a new or multiple hubs is pretty easy also. After using this for 6 weeks, I still find it to work very well. The only issue I have encountered is the area I am in has sporadic but brief power outages which can disrupt the operation of the dimmers and switches but they have a retry function available. Update: This product is a winner. Been using this for over a year. Again, their app works well and is easy to use and as far as I have been able to determine, they have all imaginable functions and features covered. All of their devices work well and are reasonably priced, especially compared to Z-Wave. The variety of devices available is outstanding and their solution for operating garage door openers is remarkable. YoLink's customer service is responsive and helpful. Found one small issue with pairing a device: one of the fobs is black with white printing used for the QR code pairing. Their app only recognizes black printing with a white background. The workaround was to scan the QR code, reverse the image and have the app scan the reversed image.
