In 1940, newspaper tycoon Charles Foster Kane (Welles) dies after uttering the word 'Rosebud'. An anonymous reporter (William Alland) is assigned the task of uncovering the meaning of Kane's dying word, and in the course of his enquiries he receives varying accounts of his life from former colleagues Jedediah Leland (Joseph Cotten) and Bernstein (Everett Sloan), and ex-wife Susan Alexander (Dorothy Comingore). This Warner Bros. release is the one to buy! After the abysmal Universal release, which was dire, and one of the worst blu ray transfers ever, this release is superior in every way. There is not a blemish in sight, and all of the problems of the Universal release have gone. Yes it's missing the documentary's of the U.S. release, but the superior quality far outweighs that, and it appears to have the same restored transfer as the one that Warner Bros. released in the U.S. Picture Quality is superb, and has been transferred in it's original aspect ratio of 1.37:1. Sound is in the original mono. If you have the Universal blu ray, and are a fan of this movie, then it is definitely worth buying this version.
