I suppose you could sand it, but I've never heard of wet sanding wood. It's a cutting block. Use it. **Q: How many pounds does the 18”x18”x3” black walnut cutting board weigh?** A: I don't know the exact answer (I've never weighed it) but it is hefty. If I were to guess, it has to be around 20 lbs. I like that because it is stable and won't move when cutting large meats. Truly the best board I have ever had! **Q: Did you receive Boos block cream finish with beeswax with your board? The product description (under maintaining your board) implies that it is included.** A: A little complimentary packet of the block cream might have come with the block, but I purchased additional beeswax to maintain the block. **Q: Does the cutting board come pre-conditioned with an oiled surface?** A: Yes. It should be maintained regularly with John Boos Wax and Oil but does come preconditioned. ## Frequently Bought Together - John Boos Boos Block CCB Series Square Large Reversible Wood Chopping Board, 3-Inch Thickness, 18" x 18" x 3", Maple - John Boos 2-Piece Care Set, 16 oz Mystery Oil & 5 oz Board Cream - All-Natural Maintenance Formula for Butcher Blocks, Cutting Boards, Wooden Countertops & Wood Utensils - John Boos Oil & Cream Round Applicator for Wood Cutting Boards, Butcher Blocks & Utensils, Beechwood - Solid Hardwood Handle, Silver Ion-Treated Sponge, Storage Cap, Easy and Even Application --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.nz/products/51987259-boos-block-prep-block-end-grain-chopping-block-18-x](https://www.desertcart.nz/products/51987259-boos-block-prep-block-end-grain-chopping-block-18-x) --- *Product available on Desertcart New Zealand* *Store origin: NZ* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
