The stretch is pretty good but not to the point that it loses the needed tension for the exercise. I mainly used these at the gym to stretch before a workout and for exercises where it wasn't all that safe to use dumbbells or ones that caused avoidable discomfort in my joints (like a lot of tricep exercises call for or high rep squats, etc).
