It has also proved very useful for tidying up cuts made when I haven't been too lazy. It taps better than a trowel and cleans old mortar off bricks with an effortless nature that causes minimal fatigue. It also keeps a keen edge for a good while, showing the quality of the metal. Its true that the hammer doesn't look as lovely as when we first met, but then again, neither do I. It's whispered that ancient masonic scrolls teach that a drop of olive oil rubbed in with a kitchen towel will restore some of the lustre and, as a bonus, protect the hammer from inclement environments. Why don't these?** A: I couldnt confirm if this is a genuine Estwing but can now say after my husband using it for the past 4 years, its still going strong!After building a granite farmhouse all in stone that needed cutting and shaping, its had some serious work. Excellent cushioned handle which does absorb most of the impact forces and the finely machined cutting head is both effective and precise. I have used Estwing hammers for years and have never been disappointed at their performance and longevity.
