The vent stem is approximately 1 1/4" (29mm) long. My 3gal Roto-Pax is 9/32" (7mm) thick. I'm not sure about the funky vent caps but at least it functions and fits, unlike others I've tried and returned.

For some of the new style 5 Gal cans, there is a plastic screen/cage inside the opening for the spout. This prevents you from fishing the wire thru to pull the vent into the drilled hole from the inside. Instead, you will have to drill a second hole, large enough to pass the vent thru. Then follow the directions except feed the wire thru this slightly larger hole instead of thru the large spout hold. When done, seal the second hole with some epoxy glue.

The vent valves need better o rings, but if you tighten them up, real tight, they won't leak. Seem to be fairly good thus far.

By installing these it takes a lot less time dispensing gas than it does from an gas can without it. A full five gallon gas can weighs approximate 30 pounds and holding it a difficult angel to dispense into a car, mower or whatever can be difficult. This vent make that process go faster.

I figured I could use these to replace an existing vent on a can that had broken. But, the hole the old vent used was about twice as wide as what was needed for these.It’s not the fault of the item, so I have a hard time taking stars away but they are about useless to me unless I convert some more cans to have non EPA spouts.
