Love it
Sept 2024 - I just ordered this grinder from Amazon last week and have only been using it for about 4 days now - however I really like it. I had been using the Fellow Ode grinder for last couple years - which a friend had given me. It worked fine - liked the design, was fairly quiet however it had many things I didn't like about it. Moving to this new grinder is like night and day - some of the benefits over my old grinder: 1. Match my moccamaster brewer - so they are cohesive. 2. Much larger hopper that has enough weight from the beans to ensure the fall down into the grinder without always having to be pushed like my older grinder 3. About the same noise level - maybe a little louder but not much 4. Solid build - high quality feel to it 5. best of all - super clean output - my old grinder did not have a good seal between the grinder shoot and the container so my counter top was always getting coffee grounds on it - hated that! This grinder has a nice tight seal between the rubber container top and the chute - so you don't get all kinds of debris flying everywhere making for a messy counter - zero debris = clean counter top! My old grinder had an auto stop feature - but this grinder requires you to keep pressing the power button to grind - that's fine with me - I kind of enjoy watching the grounds filling the container especially at the high rate this machine grinds. The grounds are all very uniform also - very consistent.

Built solid and accurate.
This coffee bean grinder is high quality. Only plastic is the top part that holds the beans. The grind setting is perfection, no matter what setting - it's 'spot on'. The power button has been be held down for the duration of the grinding. That seems odd, but it doesn't make a negative impact. Just needs getting use to. The cup that catches the grinds is glass with a silicone top has an opening that fits percectly to the opening of the chute without a gap. There is also a regular silicone cap if you have extra coffee grinds left in the cup. The only thing that I dont like is the static with the grinds to the interior of the glass and the silicone tops. You can't tap the grinds off, or wipe it off with a dry cloth. You have to either rinse it, or use a damp papertowel to clean it. I give this grinder 9 1/2 out of 10. . . Had it not been for the static... I would give it a perfect 10.

Broken after 1 month of use. Second time
The burr grinder does a great job with consistent grinds. But, I have now had 2 units fail after 3-4 weeks. The second lasted just over 1 month before the unit just stopped dead during grinding. Unfortunately, this is just a few days past the Amazon return policy end date so I am stuck with a $350 grinder that doesn't function. I will reach out to Technivorn but I don't think this device will work in the long run based on history so far. Do not recommend.

Rock solid coffee grinder.
Technivorm did again. They took the concept of grinding coffee stripped off all the bells and whistles of modern appliances and focused on building a really really good coffee grinder. Beans in and press the button, it's dead simple to use. The grind setting will accommodate drip coffee makers, french press and even percolators. Grinding for espresso machines isn't a thing in the Technivorm universe though and if this is what you're looking for then check out the Baratza and Breville grinders. The KM5 is reasonably quiet. I say this because my previous coffee grinder was blade grinder that would wake up the entire house. The sound on the KM5 has a much lower pitch that doesn't shatter nerves. The grind quality is very consistent due to the flat steel burrs and the bean hopper holds enough beans to get me through a week of morning coffee. Build quality is excellent. The case is all metal and is surprisingly heavy coming in at 10 lbs. There's a bit of a static issue with the grounds but this issue can be resolved with a couple of drops of water over the beans in the hopper. If you want to get fancy you can get a water mister and give the beans a quick spritz and stir and that will stop the static in its tracks. (This trick works most other grinders too.) One one last thing I would comment on is the lack of color options. It would have been nice if Technivorm had the same color options as their coffee brewers. I have a Moccamaster KBGV that's midnight blue and my grinder is the most unexciting shade of white. My OCD self will be grinding on this issue every time I enter the kitchen. But then again this is actually a good problem to have. I could be drinking out of a Keurig.

The PROPER Grinder for the complete Moccamaster experience UPDATED 12242025
Have had the Moccamaster CDT Grand coffee maker for going on seven years with no problems. Been using a Krups Burr grinder with the Moccasmaster until recently. THIS Moccamaster burr grinder is far superior to the Krups unit in the quality of the grind and overall build quality. You will not be disappointed. Perhaps a glass hopper would be the only improvement to extend longevity, that is literally it on suggested improvements. Moccamaster has been fabulous to work with on replacement parts over the years versus just tossing out competing brands when parts fail. Support the best folks! 02202025 In use for over two months. Follow up is key, folks. This superb burr grinder does a great job and grinds well with selected settings. Not seeing the replacement glass receptacle on the Moccamaster USA website. We buy Moccamaster primarily (including their Kleer Kanteen insulated tumblers...) because parts are supposedly replaceable should they wear out or, God forbid, break from usage. Let's see the glass coffee ground receptacle become available Moccamaster and we will follow up with a new rating. 05272025 Back again. No major problems as of this writing, I will be back should ANY failures occur. This grinder still works fabulously albeit the "static magnetism" of the fresh grounds. Well built, used, many times, multiple times per day. Look for follow up when things go well (and do not...) We have had Moccamaster equipment in daily usage since 2017 without fail. Still awaiting the replacement grounds container to become available, none yet per OEM website. 12242025 Replacement grounds container AND plastic bean bin/hopper are both available at this time. Solid five stars NOW! Unit still works fabulously for a houseful of coffee swilling snobs and their guests.

So far, so good
Since we recently purchased a Moccamaster coffee maker and love it, I decided to get the grinder to match and they look spectacular together. The grinder seems to be a step up from our Baratza Virtuoso. It also produces a more consistent grind which has resulted in an elevation of the quality of our morning brew, at least IMO. For those who don't like having to hold the button while it's operating, I say "forget it." It's really not a bother because it grinds fast -- about four times faster than our old grinder. Two things I'd point out though. The static is real and a problem IMO. I use a couple spritzes of water on the beans before grinding and that does the trick. I know not everyone agrees with this technique, but it works and I doubt that much water will destroy the burrs. The bean hopper has a very low slope and some of the beans get stuck and require a bit of coaxing. They really should fix this on future models. Again, not a huge deal. I hated the Ode grinder for that very reason, but don't seem to mind it now. Could be because of the clear hopper so you can see what's happening. I think it's a very solid and very heavy grinder and would buy it again. I got it on a BF deal, but then it got even cheaper the next week. I'm glad I got it and do think it's elevated the coffee from our Moccamaster.

Excellent Grind Quality, But a Bit Pricey
This grinder produces very consistent, high quality grounds and runs quietly, which really improves my daily coffee routine. The stepless adjustment makes it easy to dial in the perfect grind for different brew methods. I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because it’s on the expensive side for a grinder, and the grind adjustment knob feels a little stiff at first. Overall, it’s a great machine that makes excellent coffee, just not perfect for the price.

Defective product, warranty hurdles
UPDATE: It costed me $25 to ship the defective machine to the seller. Seller has advised me that I must pay a "restocking fee of 50%" and, to justify it, sent photographs that do not represent the condition in which I returned it. The seller has spilled ground coffee and claims I returned the equipment "used" and dirty. I have alerted Amazon but, having never complained about a seller, have no idea how they handle seller abuses. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The grinder worked precisely once. I followed website troubleshooting protocols without success and then embarked upon the process of returning this defective product, a nightmare compared to the advertised five-year warranty. You must affix postage to the return box. Moreover, buyers should retain their original packing for five years, because the vendor suggests that, otherwise, it "may have no choice" other than to deny coverage or service. By contrast, the Moccamaster coffee maker has worked as advertised for over a year; the grinder is beyond a disappointment.
