Small Investment with Great Results
I'm just getting into making ice cream at home and after doing weeks of exhaustive research, including probably 100 hours of YouTube videos (I know, I have a problem, but the research is for me a big part of the fun), I was ready to set my budget at between $200 and $400 for a compressor ice cream machine. Then I ran across this Dash My Cup Set. I returned to YouTube and after just a few videos I decided that for a small fraction of my initial budget I could "get my feet wet" with the My Cup. Another deciding factor was that the Freezer Mugs were small enough to not sacrifice too much of my freezer space. I've made several batches of ice cream using both the included recipes and some I have found online and I must say, the results have been fabulous. Sure the finished ice cream right out of the machine is a soft serve consistency but after a couple of hours in the freezer you will have ice cream firm enough to form excellent scoops. Just be sure to follow good recipes otherwise you may end up with ice cream hard as a rock. So learning a bit about the science of ice cream is critical for good results. Although the portion size is small, it's actually bigger than I expected. I'm an ice cream lover and sure, polishing off the entire batch in one sitting is no problem but, I am definitely satisfied with the amount. And if you opt for the Set with the extra mug, you'll always have a mug ready for your next batch. Definitely the way to go in my opinion. The My Mug is very well made (as are most of the Dash products of which I have an Egg Cooker and a Waffle Iron) and the motor will turn the dasher through the thickest of recipes. If you overload with mix-ins it might run into difficulties but otherwise you're good to go. Will the My Mug be the "end game" ice cream machine? Probably not. But for a small investment I can experiment with different recipes and see where this new found hobby takes me. And even if I do get a larger, fancier and more expensive machine in the future, I will probably keep the My Mug anyway to test out new flavors. This way I can see what I like without wasting too many ingredients.

Works great! Easy to use & clean
I love this ice cream maker. It not only works great it's the perfect size and easy to use and clean. I was hesitant to try it because of the negative reviews but I'm glad I didn't listen to those people and just gave it a try. I put very little effort into using it and it turned out great every time. Not sure why some people had problems with it or if it was just user error or inability to follow directions. But i found it super easy to use and very versatile. I put the mug/bowl in the freezer for 2 days first to make sure it was sufficiently cold. The first thing i made was simple vanilla ice cream using the recipe in the book (although i didn't even measure exact amounts, i just guessed and eyed it). Poured the milk/cream/sugar combo in and let it go for about 25 minutes. Poured in some chocolate syrup in at the end and had myself some yummy perfect chocolate ice cream. It was on the softer side which is how i prefer ice cream so it was perfect for me. Also i noticed if you eat out of the frozen bowl it stays cold longer and if you push the ice cream around to the sides as you're eating it, it continues to freeze and harden. Transferring it to a different container will only make it melt faster. The second thing i made was a fruit sorbet sort of thing. I did this last minute with no plan and it turned out great. It was super hot and i was making a fruit smoothie, then decided to pour my smoothie into the ice cream maker to see what would happen. It was literally just bereies, juice and a little milk. After 25 minutes this turned into a fruity iced treat that was super delicious and perfect on a 90 degree day. The next thing i tried was putting in yogurt mixed with milk and juice and this turned out as a creamy mix between ice cream and iced slushy. I'm amazed at all the different creations you can make with this thing and how simple it is to use. Also clean up is quick and easy which i like. Having 2 bowls seems like the best idea, especially for a single person, as you always have one in the freezer ready to use. This makes the perfect amount for one person but it can make enough for 2 even in one bowl. This is a great product especially for the price. Glad i didn't get one of those expensive ice cream makers that probably doesn't even work as well. If you have been wanting to make your own ice cream or iced/cold treats/concoctions, then give this a try. Don't listen to the negative reviews because this thing is awesome and works great! So glad I finally got one.

Nifty little gadget
This is a pretty nifty little gadget. My only complaint would be that there are very few recipes included. There are a total of six. Seriously? There definitely should have been more recipes so I don’t have to scour the internet to find them. A couple recipes in the description of the item would have been helpful, so I could buy the necessary items and have them on hand when it was delivered. I’d say the ice cream was softer than soft serve, but the vanilla ice cream recipe was good, although I added a bit more vanilla than called for. It’s not very noisy, at least it’s a lot quieter than my “regular” ice cream machine! Super easy to use.

Fun and Functional Ice Cream Maker
I loved this so much I bought a second one. We keep the mugs in the deep freeze, follow the manufacturer’s directions and our ice cream turns out perfectly. It is just the right amount for one person and the endless ability to choose your own flavor and add-in combinations is fantastic. We have some special diet requirements in our home, and this little jewel makes it possible to satisfy those requirements while enjoying a fun treat. Now for the official stuff, it isn’t overly noisy to me, but yes I does make some noise. The mugs are nicely weighted and the rubber grips on the bottom hold the whole thing in place while it is churning. Clean up is a breeze, just follow the manufacturer’s suggestions. This truly is one of my favorite things.

Works Great and Turns Out Delicious Ice Cream
This system works great! I have long wanted an ice cream maker for my home, but have hesitated due to appliance size, and difficulty in cleaning. When I came across this ice cream maker, I was skeptical. The process seemed too easy, the pieces of the system seemed too small, and clean up seemed too simple. But, for the low price, I figured it was worth a try. I am not disappointed! I am actually quite impressed! The maker came with a clear and simple booklet of instructions with recipes for multiple flavors of ice cream. When I follow the instructions as written, I am able to turn out a delicious, creamy ice cream that is full on flavor. It is a multi-step process that requires chilling the bowls in the freezer at least a day ahead of time. When it is ice cream making time, one bowl is removed from the freezer at a time, filled with ingredients, and churned for 20-25 minutes. The ice cream is ready to eat at this time, and will be the consistency of soft serve. For a firmer ice cream (my preference), the bowl goes back into the freezer for a couple of hours. I used to cover the bowls with plastic wrap, but have since invested a few dollars into an optional accessory for this system, silicone lids that fit over the bowls. The difference in taste between this homemade ice cream and store-bought is distinct! The cream and sugar in the homemade ice cream stands out in a wonderful way. Additionally, it takes just four ingredients to make the vanilla ice cream recipe: sugar, skim milk, heavy cream, and vanilla. The included recipe book also has dairy-free and vegan recipe options.

Treats from Heaven!
So this may be a long read but I think it will be the most honest review I've done, and totally worth it. We got this for one of our daughters Christmas gift. She is 13 and absolutely loves to bake, cook, and create all things from the kitchen to crafts and art. She is a perfectionist. I thought it looked cute and creative for a young teen who is very creative but feared it would get boring quickly. In the middle of making our first try, we should probably really double up or even load up on batches because the directions keep expressing the longer the better, that's very true. We followed our first batch with the recipe in the book for the chocolate to a T. When the least amount of time recommended, we churned for 23 minutes and the consistency was like thick icing and we put the whole batch in one cup (we were impatient) and churned it for 23 minutes. We put it back in the freezer but added some whipped cream like 2 large spoon full, and put it back in the freezer for another hour and it was less potent and more soft scoop ice cream. The longer we kept it in, the better it got. In the meanwhile, we made big batches of different flavors like chocolate peanut butter, vanilla, cookies n cream, strawberry swirl with cheesecake, and put them in containers. The longer you wait, the better. Its having the patience of timing it, being creative, and patience. This is a lot of fun and the flavors and texture is surprisingly wonderful! Creamy with a little ice chilled to it. Totally get what you pay for. Id love to buy extra cups with lids to have these little treats on demand. Once you get started, you want more! This is totally worth the wait! Date night ice cream for sure!

Aggravating noise !
While not hard to work and instructions are pretty clear and easy, the noise it makes while churning for 25 minutes is the most aggravating sounds in the world ! Also I must note caution when cleaning, the silver inside is like a frozen metal fence pole, if wet you'll stick to it. Frankly not worth the money.

Perfect for the Two of Us
My wife and I are really enjoying this product. It is inexpensive and looks like it is built to last a while. Since it's just the two of us, it works great, but I don't think it's practical for larger families since it would take too long to get everybody served. Get one and try some recipes. We have already landed on a favorite, and that is to mix coconut cream (2g sugar in 13.5 oz can) and unsweetened coconut milk, also 13.5 oz can, together with 70g palm sugar and 1/2C oatmilk. We use an inversion blender to make it creamy- warning, the palm sugar is pretty hard and takes a while to break up and mix in, but it's worth it. This recipe makes four 1C servings at about 500 calories each. It is non-lactose with some good non-animal fat. The only drawback we see is that a super hard crust freezes on the bottom and sides of the mug and takes time to soften so you can finish the portion. If you want to hurry it up a little you can set it in some warm water.
