It does not shred credit cards. It jams regularly even with paper

I'm sorry, no it won't. It's supposed to take up to 5 sheets of paper but it really struggles with that! Cardboard would be far to difficult for it and would probably block it completely. Plus this particular model is pretty small so you'd have to break up the cardboard packaging into very small pieces so, job done, ready for the recycle bin.
