Solid, SHARP & Heavy! Be sure to read the instructions first before assembling.
Pretty straightforward to set up, but could be confusing upfront. Ditch the blue safety guard, who needs safety anyway? The blade is hefty, and the pressure bar is great for aligning paper on the board. So far it looks like the measurement indicators are pretty spot-on. Only a mm or two difference between cuts, but it can easily slice through extra thick stacks. For anyone setting it up for the first time, DO NOT UNSCREW ANYTHING before reading the instructions thoroughly. I unscrewed the black alignment bar from its track like a doofus, and then I had to take a good portion of the cutter apart in order to get the alignment bar back into its mounting bracket, which is held together with tension. If you unscrew it, the bracket will fall to the bottom of its track, and you will NOT be able to reattach it without taking the track apart. The adjustable alignment bar is hit or miss. I don't use it too often, as it feels a bit loose once it's tightened down. I just use the printed measurements and it's treated me well. One thing to be aware of is that the grid on the cutting board is for cm measurements, NOT inches. You need to align your cuts to the two rulers on the board instead of the grid. That might be a little confusing for newcomers. Overall though, the guillotine is fantastically sharp and has held its edge for the month I've had it. Hopefully it holds that edge for a good long while.

Thick Cut
Worked great cut 12,000 pages today for work. Very easy to use and cut with clean edges, did all my cuts in 45 mins. I was cutting the max the machine could do. Just over 1 inch thick.

Great product, not so great customer service.
Bought this for my wife's craft room. She does a lot of paper craft and book binding that involves cutting a lot of different weight paper, chip board, etc. This cutter can cut through most anything and requires very little strength as the handle and cutting mechanism relies on leverage. We bought this 6/29/24 and received it with damage to the heavy metal base plate. Each of the four corners of the base have a soft curve and the manufacturer supplies plastic "caps" to snap on to the metal so the cutter won't damage surfaces it's put on and also provide a little more grip so it won't slide around. One of these corners was dented enough that the plastic cap could not snap on to it and because of that it would wobble. Easy enough to just put something under the corner to even it out, but it's like having a kitchen table with a too short leg and you prop it up with a piece of cardboard. It works but you'd like your new cutter to be in new condition when you receive it. We reached out to the company and received a response in a few days, but that was just to say that they had forwarded the complaint to some other entity. They asked us to provide pictures of the damage which we did. Another couple weeks go by and they check back to see if it's been resolved. We said we never heard from anyone after the initial contact and they said they'd forward it again. Now we're two months out and still nothing. I went back to read reviews to see if others have had shipping damage and there were some. The cutter is packaged reasonably well with lots of cardboard and styrofoam; but two things are working against a successful shipment. First is the weight. This cutter is quite heavy( a testament to how well made it is). This isn't anything to be changed but it does suggest that even more robust packaging is required. The second factor is also weight and what is likely the reason for our damaged product. All the weight is on one side. I almost dropped the box from about a foot off the floor when I lifted it because it was laying flat(and it's a huge square box). If your not expecting this; it's easy to lose your grip. I'm pretty sure this same thing happened during the chain of handling in shipping and the box was dropped from enough height to bend the(substantial) metal corner. A warning on the box about the lopsided weight might help reduce drops. Also, shipping the box on its side with the heaviest side down and "🔝 " would also aid in handling. Great product needs improved shipping and better customer service.

Very good cutter
I already made a review on this. The cutter is amazing quality. However, it’s extremely sharp. Ironically I was making fun of a friend who cut his finger in a paper cutter. I thought how is that even possible. Well it’s so shape that I reached down to touch something and it merely snagged a hair of my finger nail but is so sharp that it caught and just kept going. I can’t believe it. Of course I keep my fingers away from the blade when cutting. But this thing is like a laser beam. And that’s coming from someone that can sharpen knives shape enough to wittle hair in half several times. So even touching it can cut you. Be careful!! Also note* this was my own fault. I took the blue safety guard off. The guard is a good feature and the locking blade handle is a good feature. When you’re done using it pull the handle all the way up so the blade is hidden up inside the machine

I bought this for my bookbinding hobby and if you have ever tried trimming a text block with a knife you will understand why. Bookbinding is a very low-cost craft but in my view this piece of kit is essential and it is the only pricey tool you need to get. It works beautifully and is so satisfying to use. My only caveat is that when you first use it you must cut some waste paper initially to remove the oil used for transit. I didn't do that and so ruined a lovely text block. However, that was a one-off. It's a magnificent machine. By the way there are useful YouTube videos on how to adjust and maintain the blade.

The guillotine cuts through approx 3cm. It requires some effort but has now done about 30 books of this size without loss of sharpness. Two minor issues I've had to work around: 1. Books tend to warp a little whilst being cut, so I tend to break them into 2 thinner sections to reduce the effect 2. The last few pages don't cut cleanly, hence the scissors in the attached photo. I've tried putting scrap paper underneath the books, but that makes so much mess! Overall, very pleased.

WORKS BEAUTFULLY, ONCE YOU HAVE EATEN YOUR BREAFAST PORRIDGE TO OPEN AND TRANSPORT THE WEIGHTY PRODUCT, TO YOUR DESK' CLEAN CUT REQUIRING LESS MUSCLE THAN I IMAGINED FOR TRIMMING A 360 PAGE BOOK THE CUTTER FOOLED ME. BEFORE EXECUTING ITS MISSION, THE LOCK BUTTON HAS TO BE PRESSED. THE DOWNSIDE - THE TOOL BOX. SEALED BEYOND MACHINE EXTRACTING PRESSURE. ANS REMAINS SO. THE MEASURING BAR, WONT'S LOCK. SUSPICION FALLS ON INCOMPLETE ASSEMBLY. CAN BE WORKED AROUND, BUT THE PRICE SUGGEST A MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION BE TAKEN BEFORE LEAVING FACTORY. PROVIDING THE BLADE HAS A SATISFACTORY LIFE SPAN, NO INDICATION TO THE SERVITUDE OF CHOPS - THEN I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO A SATISFACTORY RELATIONSHIP. IF NOT, NOTICE WILL BE SHARED ON THIS PLATFORM.

Absolutely love this product. Its super easy to assemble, as you only need to slide the lever handle on. I'm a pretty small woman, but the handle is easy to pull down with minimal effort. So far I've cut through a few ~160 page books, and its been extremely easy, smooth, and consistent. It's a pretty large unit, and a heavy one (~40 lbs). The weight itself isn't an issue, but paired with the size makes it a little cumbersome to move around. The blade is super sharp, and cuts beautifully. I haven't had it long enough to experience any dulling of the blade, but I've also read that a good way to sharpen guillotine blades is to cut through tinfoil with it-- something to try? All in all, wonderful product and I'm very happy I invested in this! Sorry for the instagram video, its the only one I had on hand of using this cutter!
