Box arrived sealed but everything inside was loose and rattling, which is not a defect, that's the way it was packaged. When you open it, tons of tiny pieces. Be careful if you have little kids who want to swallow things. Although marked for ages 5-12, this is most suitable for a careful child who is very patient with assembling tiny things, probably closer to age 12 than age 5. You (the adult assistant) cannot do this in a hurry, you need to look at the instruction booklet carefully to build the set. Like IKEA furniture, if you build the building in the wrong order, you might have difficulty undoing it to start over. The building walls snap together and take a lot of force to press and seal. They cannot be easily disassembled again for flat storage, so this toy will take up space. Schleich fans will note that this modern rider continues the trend of making a "playline" - a more gender-specific, girly "Horse Club" look, with cheaper pieces (hay bundle and sack of grain are hollow and snap-together instead of handpainted heavy pieces of yesteryear). Rider doesn't sit and hold reins realistically, so true equestrians will be upset - the older Schleich riders were accurate. Knowledge of equitation continues to fade in both designers and customers alike. Rider's scale is different (larger), so she won't match the older Schleich riders and horses. If this bothers you, look up this issue online before committing to this pricey purchase.

I bought it for my younger sisters and they absolutely adore it. Unfortunately it’s not perfect, because some pieces are missing from the package. I am missing 2 medals and two pie slices. It would be nice if this could be figured out, because they would really like to have the complete set.
