New Favorite Pants Ever
These pants are awesome. I think they are probably my favorite pants ever purchased. The material is amazing. I took them canoeing, and while not completely waterproof, the pants just shed water, it just rolls right off them. I had my cuffs rolled up in the canoe and they actually held water like a cup - the water didn't absorb in to the material, and what little water did absorb dried rapidly. Also, the pants are lightweight and very comfortable. For me, at 5'5, the length is about an inch too long, but I just cinch the ankles in a bit and it's fine. They pants rolled up easily to my lower thighs and stayed rolled up when I had to get in and out of the water. I wore them for a couple days of hiking and boating and they stayed pretty clean because they don't attract and hang onto dirt. They were comfortable in hot weather, but if it's too hot, rolling them into shorts works quite well. I actually prefer these to "convertible" pants because they can roll into shorts easily, while they don't have the weird look of convertible pants with a zipper around your thigh. Also, they are pretty flattering to wear - slim fitting but very stretchy, so somewhat form-fitting but in an extremely comfortable way. I found them to be slightly on the large side, perhaps about 1/2 size too big. My normal size was okay, but I'm going to order another pair in a different color one size smaller. There is one zipper pocket on one leg. I guess if I had one complaint it would be that it would be nice to have an additional zipper pocket. I took them for a second camping weekend after I bought them, and really could have used another pocket. The unzippered pockets held paper trash and (for brief periods) my iPhone. The zipper pocket was big enough for my swiss army knife and some cash, but not much else. And finally, I would say the little tie is kind of redundant. The waist fit me perfectly, so I don't know if I would have otherwise needed the belt tie or if it's actually non-functional to tighten the pants. I will likely cut it off if that can be done. So, as I've said, I've already purchased a second pair of these pants, and now I want them in everything -shorts, capris, etc, and would like to see some new colors (like a navy, denim or silver blue!) Outdoor Research makes a GREAT product!

Awesome pants - so pleased!
Omg, I love these pants so much. They are gonna be perfect for traveling: super comfy, pockets, versatile.I think they run a little small, compared to retailers like Old Navy, Kohl's, JCP. I'm a vaguely muscular-ish 140lbs, 5'4" and usually wear a 6 so that's what I ordered. They fit but were really snug in hips/butt (altho I have a bubble butt). I returned for the 8 - as shown, they are eased through the hips/butt. Bit loose in the waist but perfect when the drawstring tightened. I left it loose for the pics. Husband said the 6 were more butt-flattering but I'm looking for comfort. As seen, they are really long. I'm gonna hem but it's not easy due to drawstring in bottom hem for closing the legs. You could just tighten this and let the legs drape but I'm going to try to fold over a portion and sew. They are very lightweight, and soft for ripstop fabric which is usually stiff and rough. So this won't be butter soft but are nice enough and nicer than other hiking pants I've tried.I plan to buy more but am going to stalk websites for sales as the size 8s weren't the lowest priced ones.

Fits well. Loose and allows movement
The price is outrageous, but the pants fit very well and can take a beating. This is my second pair. I bought the first pair (grey) on clearance, so the hefty price tag for this one was a shock. However, I took those pants hiking all over the Holy Land and other trekking adventures for many years and they are still going. A little bit of piling, but no holes or obvious wear. So, I bit the bullet and purchased the blue pants. I now wear these pants as part of my school uniform and to work, so they are worn almost 5 days a week. I certainly expect them to hold up well above the average pants considering the exorbitant cost. So far, so good. They dry very quickly, which is nice. I was bathing a patient and sprayed water all over my legs, completely soaking the pants. Despite that, they were nearly dry after about an hour. I can bend, squat, twist and turn, and the pants stay up and the buttons stay buttoned. I usually load down the pockets and they don't droop. I wish there were a cargo pocket though. You can't go wrong with more pockets.I can wear a base layer underneath or wear alone. I have never felt overheated, even while wearing them in the Middle East. I usually wear a size 4, but I went with the size 6 since my other pair was a 6 and they are wonderful. My thighs are kind of large and I hate pants being too tight in the legs and loose in the waist. I didn't have that problem with these pants. They are perfect, except for the high price.

Very nice pants but wish they were an inch longer
These pants are an inch too short, but otherwise they are true to size (I got size 2), have nice style, and are comfortable. The fabric is sturdy but lightweight with good stretch, and they don't gape at the waist, as many pants do on me. The size 2 inseam is 30", but I'm 5'4" and need at least 31", which I have no problem finding in other pants. Besides planning to wear them for everyday use and travel, I'd hoped to wear them with the legs cinched for summer hiking, to keep bugs away from my ankles. But that only works with crew socks, as the cinch pulls them up even more -- worn with the quarter socks I prefer in warm weather, my skin is exposed when I bend my legs. It's too bad OR skimped on the length, because they are otherwise very nice.Update Aug. 2014: Since my original review (which was 3 stars only because of the length) I've found them to be so comfortable that I was wearing them frequently, so I changed my rating to 4 stars. As long as I wear relatively flat shoes, the missing inch in length isn't so noticeable. The rest of my original review stands, but the way they otherwise fit, retain their shape, and feel is so good that I bought more, as well as the capris. They also repel rain and just about anything you spill on them, and they wash well and dry fast. I called OR about their Long length version, but they said that was 2" longer, which would have been too long for me.

Haven’t used it yet. It is light and soft ...
Haven’t used it yet. It is light and soft but fits a bit larger than expected. It is ok as I can layer it over a pair of tights when needed.
