SportPet Designs Plastic Kennels Rolling Plastic Airline Approved Wire Door Travel Dog Crate, XXX-Large

The carrier is great, but one of the quick-release wheel mounts broke the retainer tab on its first flight. I would have rated this higher, but I have been trying to get a response out of SportPet Designs for 17 days now and my emails, submissions to their "Contact" form and voicemails have gone unanswered. Nobody even answers their phone. All I want is to obtain (purchase if necessary) a replacement mount, but customer support doesn't seem to exist. Good thing I kept the shipping carton as this is likely to go back if I don't get a response. UPDATE: Of course, on day 18 I got a call from the seller. I was told they'd been trying to reach me for a few days - delayed several days because of year-end inventory and such. I never received any emails - not even in my spam folder. Anyway, Lisa was very kind and is shipping a full set of wheel mounting pads. I still think they should improve the design of those mounting pads to make them more robust, but their eventual reply satisfied my need and I've bumped the review from a 2 to a 4 star. Also a note that the handles have a habit of spreading and popping off the carrier when attempting to pick it up with a pet inside. I have an idea for a fix to that, but it isn't a real problem if you're able to wheel it around.

I debated back and forth before deciding to purchase this crate. We have always had giant breed dogs (St. Bernard, Great Dane, Bullmastiff) and currently have a 48 inch crate by a different manufacturer. We have a mastiff mix “puppy” (1 year old) who has outgrown our puppy crate (size large). Many other reviews left me hesitant to buy this crate but then I read one by a kennel owner who said it was the best giant breed crate she’s had and I decided to roll the dice. To be clear, we are not going to travel with this crate. Anytime you are assembling a crate of this size it is an in place project. Once assembled it doesn’t fit through doors or into cars well unless you have doors wider than 36” and a cargo van or xxxl suv. We are going to use it as a safe space in our house for our dog when we are not home. It is actually slightly larger than our Petmate kennel and the plastic is slightly less thick. Our dogs are kennel trained so this won’t be a problem for us. If you have an escape artist you may want to make a different choice. (The plastic on the Petmate is virtually indestructible even to a dog trying to dig out.) However one of the things that stands out is the ease of assembly. It’s easily done by one person and extra bolts and wing nuts are included. Also the door latch is much easier to use than our other kennel and the door is larger. I think we’ll be very happy with this crate for our purposes. It actually has more internal space than our other crate. All pictures are without the wheels. I have included photos of it next to the Petmate for comparison. It is the kennel with the light colored top and gray bottom. Dog pictured is 125 pounds.

We received it with a 1.5 inch crack in an area that did not matter much. We needed it for a flight and it met all specifications. This particular brand gets you the same as others but for less.
