My First Piano Adventure: Writing Book A | Piano Theory Book with Rhythm and Note Reading for Young Beginners | Early Ear Training and Composition | Faber Piano Method Book for Kids

This is my favorite theory book to use with young beginners. The activities are perfectly designed for ages 5 to 7, with just the right mix of writing, clapping, listening, and simple composition. It supports everything we do in the lesson without feeling like busywork. Faber does an excellent job pacing the concepts so that students can absorb rhythms, note names, and finger numbers at a gentle, encouraging pace. The illustrations are cheerful and the pages are uncluttered, which helps students stay focused. I use this alongside Lesson Book A in all my beginner piano classes. It is a great tool for reinforcing new concepts, encouraging creativity, and building strong foundations from the very start.

Great workbook and lesson book for 3-4 year olds to help them get familiar with the piano.

Bought the set of 3 FABER books for a 3 going on 4 year old that I've been caring for since he was 20 months and he loved them immediately! He's highly intelligent, taught himself to read at age 2 and LOVES music! But he's also a typical 3 year old in that he get's hyper, has a short attention span and needs a lot of handholding to properly learn piano. I know piano, read the amazing reviews on this trio of books (lesson, writing and xmas) and decided this sounded like a great introduction to piano. He was truly inspired to commit to learning piano after opening the books. I highly recommend buying both the lesson and writing books (obviously the xmas book is optional), especially because the lesson book comes with a CD, which of course he loved because it ties in with the book and acclimated him to the whole concept of piano lessons. And the writing book is something he can grow into. I will say that he participated in Music Together for over a year and has that whole collection of books and CD's--so he's quite familiar with following music and singing and playing along. But he would open these books on his own, pop in the CD, follow along and grab his Casio keyboard which I bought him a while back (another great purchase). I also spent some time with him going through the exercises and explaining things which is obviously an essential part of the process. All in all, I was so happy (and relieved) that he took to the books because you never know about these things!

My daughter takes lessons but my son was able to teach himself some songs using these books. They are great for young kids.

I bought this for my 5 yr old, and while it does cover basic skills for piano, it requires a lot of adult assistance.

Very good book!

This workbook is a great companion for kids just starting piano lessons. The activities are fun, engaging, and very age-appropriate. It combines simple writing exercises with music concepts in a way that keeps children interested without overwhelming them. The illustrations are colorful and playful, which helps make learning feel less like “work” and more like a game. It’s also well-structured — each page builds gently on the last, so kids feel successful as they go along. My child looks forward to using it every week, and I can already see improvement in basic rhythm and note recognition. Highly recommended for parents and teachers working with first-time piano students.

Very good series. My 5 year old boy is finding this fun. It introduces concepts at an easy pace. The cd with it means lakes it enjoyable and easier for the parent to practice at home after lessons. We use it with a piano teacher.
