It is a unique colored sweet potato that is reddish purple inside, and the most consumed potato in Okinawa. The purple color contains polyphenol which has antioxidant effect, used for cooking, sweets such as cake and ice cream, cosmetic, and other various uses.I have started Japanese Sweet Potatoes in seven half-whiskey barrel containers. I got just as much yield from the container as I did from a Raised Bed, but it was so much easier to harvest the Okinawan Sweet Potatoes in the container. It would take me a over an hour to dig up the Raised Bed and find all of the Japanese Sweet Potatoes. Review: Amazing, Serve my purpose - Update 10/20/23 From July 20, 2023 4 months birthday update. Today I added 3 new pictures. Keep in mind it around 2pm in Florida and the sun is out in full force. I have not water them today I’ll wait until evening to water once week if so. You can see in the picture how they are over growing to my niegbor’s side of the fence. I’ll be cutting those slips on fence and putting them in water to get bigger roots before planting them in spring. Update: it’s been around 2 months and you can see all the slip I have. What I do is that as the slip grow from the sides of the cuts I planted and are tall enough I carefully lay them down without breaking them from the cut planted and put soil on top of each steam. I make sure leaf are showing and not buried. Then water again every other day well. I live in florida but you can start them inside as long as you put them where they get sunlight and is warm. Then transplant outside in spring if you live in cold area. Make sure you have good soil and a little sandy and does not get hard so your sweet potatoes have room to expand. I order 2- one pound. I got 3 heathy purple sweet potatoes. I guess altogether they weigh 2 pounds. I cut them in half and planted them in the grown with the cut side face up and being level with ground. I water every other day for one week and every 4 day after. It’s been like 3 weeks and my sweet potatoes slip are all around my 6 cuts. This is the way my mom teach me and it works . I’m so happy I will have a lot of slips in a few months. I’m really happy with my purchase. Review: Great quality. Would buy from again. - Packaged good. Pototoes in good condition. Ready to eat or plant for more. These are a favorite of mine and I bought these to grow slips and have plenty year round. They were fresh. Before buying to grow do your research so you don't blame seller if something goes wrong. Also, the smaller ones will need to be planted sooner. I did eat one and was pleased with the great taste. Excellent quality. I didn't weigh but total seemed more than pound. Appearance was great with no blemishes. Growth as you can see in photo is great if you research how to do it and follow. I prefer this method to plant slips to make more pototoes.

False Advertising
The picture is False advertising; Actual color is white with faint purple lines. Certainly NOT the vibrant purple in the product image. PLUS it’s perishable so NON REFUNDABLE. The description notes a “set” implying more than one potato. I ordered a quantity of 2, expecting at least 4 which would equate to 2 per set. I received only 2 potatoes, each very smooth but no slips. I am not happy with this purchase and will notpurchase from this party again. Product noted 200+ purchased this month, each at $16 per potato. Ridiculous Amazon for allowing this to happen on your platform. I had to choose 1 star to submit this review. I’ll give them that for actually sending something.

Very pleased with the slips I was able to get.
I was skeptical that what I received would survive. I am pleased, however, that with the two that did grow slips successfully it lived. was able to get a number of slips! I cannot wait for this to grow Japanese sweet potatoes.

Best experiment ever!
All mine were in great shape and now they are making loads of slips to plant out which is why I bought them. Wish I had bought them earlier than April to get going. Should have started them in Jan to have super roots.
