I bought this book on someone’s recommendation who thought it was a gripping story. I wish I had read the bad reviews on Amazon first as I found it very unconvincing. Reviewers who have praised it write about the unexpected twist at the end. It was unexpected but it’s not worth reading the rest of the book just to read the last section. It was badly written and I didn’t find it compelling reading at all. When I was half way through, I talked about The Silent Patient to my book group as we were discussing books we had recently read. I read some of chapter 1 to them and they agreed with me about the poor prose. I promised to read the ending before I donated the book to a charity bookshop. A very disappointing read.
