It’s a decent product! I love it, it doesn’t look ugly, it’s functional. Easy to install.

Aesthetically pleasing, decent build quality, quite expensive but nothing like it on the market. Unfortunately, my doors and windows are black so the silver aluminum frame is not ideal, but it’s such a thin frame it’s not as noticeable as I thought it would be. Installing is quick and easy, after you get the awful plexiglass film peeled off. It is a HUGE improvement over the plastic filler I was using, for sound pollution and air tightness. I used this with my off-brand Cowsar window AC unit and it took a little finagling, but after a few minutes I came up with a solution and I’m happy with this window insert.

I can’t believe nobody else makes something like this with the prevalence of “split” ACs. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing special about this product. It’s two pieces of aluminum frame plexiglass that slide with each other. But they include niceties like two rolls of foam to help seal, and a “lock” to help keep your sliding window secured in a halfway open position. Fits a Midea u shaped 12k BTU unit perfectly. Yes you could build this yourself. But with the price of plexiglass and wood required you’d have to literally value your time at $9/hr or less.

honestly it's weird no one else is doing this. This is the best thing you can buy if you have a window ac in a side window instead of a vertical sliding window. It's good for any AC not just the suggested saddle type one. We had been using a tiny ac for 5 years trying with cardboard, foam pack board, and even plywood to keep the heat out and the cool in. All of these solutions required vast amounts of duct tape and tuck in insulation and most of them would warp from the crazy weather we get in the mountains and pull tape off and let heat and bugs in. I can say with certainty after spending a whole summer with this product that putting this in plus some extra ac insulation foam to make a seal and much less duct tape has kept the area much cooler than any previous summer. Plus you can actually look out your window which is a big plus. It's made of plexi-glass not real glass which might be a downer to some but we prefer this. In areas where it snows you still have to put any window ac away or it will break from the extreme temperatures and having this be plexi means it won't break when we store it away in the garage this winter, even if we drop it.

Okay, so it's definitely true that this is WAY too expensive for what it is, but if you're trying to get a window AC unit into your horizontal sliding window, this is probably your easiest option. I know the Frigidaire casement unit is an option, but I've read the install is difficult on those units. Otherwise, you can get the Soleus saddle AC, then go to a hardware store and get plexiglass cut to the exact dimensions of the opening. However, this takes time and it might take trial and error to get it fitted correctly. It's also possible with the retractible design of this to get it situated inside the frame, which you can't do with a single cut piece of plastic. Also, if ever you want to move the unit to a different window, you can't do that. So yeah, it's borderline unconscionable for them to sell this for more than $80, but it IS high quality and easily solves a problem in a way no other product can to my knowledge. Existence is suffering.
