I was doubtful, but it works great. I have long hair and use a lot of hair conditioner. The drain was sluggish. Now it drains well.

helped with my old and stinky kitchen sink drain.
i have very old plumbing, and it appears that the pipes are glued together. i reallly don’t feel like sawing everything out and replacing the plumbing. the kitchen sink (due to age) had developed a foul odor coming from the drain. tried bleach, baking soda you name it. i got this and followed the instructions, kept the smell at bay for about 2 months. overall not a bad product. going to be using this frequently at my new home, with all new plumbing to hopefully keep the drain smelling fresh for longer. at least at my new home i can take apart the plumbing to clean the drain once a year

Heavily Perfumed Product
Smells absolutely horrible, like cheap perfume. I purchased this product because I am unable to tolerate the smell of traditional drain cleaners due to a medical issue. This was way way way worse. My husband had to bail the stinky perfume water out of the sink open the window and put a fan in the room to blow the fumes out. He never complains about scents, but when he was do e he came to me and said, “That stuff really stinks!” I am unable to use the bathroom due to the fumes. This is day two, just an awful smell!

Not for Opening a Drain. Amazing for Slow, Smelly Drains!
First, if you are sensitive to strong smells, don't get the scented version. It's very strong. We bought an older house with slow, smelly drains. Every time we ran the dishwasher, it smelled like the sewer was in our kitchen. The bathroom sink gruggled and drained slow, making brushing your teeth quickly an athletic sport. We tried Drain-o and that didn't help. Then I remembered how useful enzymes can be and found this product. We put this stuff down the drain three nights in a row per directions. Smell? Gone! And although the scent is strong, when it dissipated, the smell was still gone. So it isn't just masking it. Slow drain? Nope, no longer. We could run the dishwahser without inviting the sewer into our kitchen. We have tried it on a blocked drain, and it didn't help. But after we used our plumber snake to push the block out, the drain cleaner took care of the smell. I've started buying this stuff in bulk. :-)

Life Is Complicated
The microbial communities that live within our drains are bound to vary from one sink to the next, so I’m reluctant to suggest that this product won’t work for your clog. Unfortunately, the “active culture blend” supposedly contained in the bottle didn’t do much for mine. In fairness, I deliberately deviated from the instructions to pour about a quarter of the bottle down the drain on consecutive nights. I suppose following the directions might have worked (particularly as the product also contains lye [sodium hydroxide], which is the active ingredient in many drain cleaners), but I was primarily interested in inoculating my drain with the crud eating organisms that the product supposedly contains. I poured enough of the drain cleaner down the drain to coat the pipe walls before going to work every day, and repeated the process for a month. The best I can say is that there may have been a slight improvement over a period where I would have expected the clog to worsen. It’s possible that I received a poorly stored bottle that had nothing living it it when it arrived (the bottle says that it should not be exposed to temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit), I may have had better luck following the directions, or the product may work better in other environments. Still, I found it disappointing and won’t be using it again.
