Excellent Coverage and Finish
The finish this oil provides on sanded wood is excellent. It pulls the grain out nicely and provides a very protective, waterproof satin sheen. Easy to apply, and the odor is not too overpowering. When using any oil-based finish, I would apply it in a well-ventilated area. I recommend not using a lot for the initial application, as this oil spreads evenly, and coverage is good. The color is a light yellow, like honey, but dries clear. Using a soft cotton cloth, the cleanup is relatively easy. A great woodworking finish alternative to poly.

Wood is better than new!
This is my first time using this product and wow! I used it on 2 vintage items. One is a wood table very worn with some gross spots. After using this product my table is shiny gorgeous and like new. Please see pictures!! I also used it on an old clock I have and it cleaned up left over dust from other wood shine products and left this clock shiny and like new. I feel like my furniture has new life! Please also see the pictures of my clock! I will say the product comes on thick and sticky. As you work it in the wood and into the grooves it has a thin oily feel. The instructions say to wait 24 hours let everything set into the wood. I personally give it 2 days and then it's show room ready!! I definitely recommend this product!

A GREAT, NATURAL, FOOD-SAFE FINISH
Tried and True original formula has become my go to finish for almost all of my wood turnings. The simple, food-safe formula and ease of application, make it an absolute joy to use! It brings out the natural luster of wood without creating any harsh, plastic shine. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to showcase the natural beauty of their wooden creations!

Great for furniture
This is a very easy to apply and beautiful wood finish. I really like the fact that it is safe and does not contain any harsh chemical fumes. It actually has kind of a pleasant smell and allows you to apply it with little to no ventilation. It is a thick finish almost like a thin honey and leaves your project looking and feeling like real wood. I really dislike plastic looking furniture and hate wearing gloves and respirators when dealing with all these commercial toxic finishes. This solves both of those problems for me and I highly recommend this product. If you have some patience and are not afraid to put some effort, this is an outstanding finish. As far a application it is very simple. You just need to apply it so you get good even coverage, let it penetrate for at least an hour, then wipe off any excess. When I apply it I find that as long as you don't have any very obviously wet spots when your done, It cures just fine within 24 hours. The trick is to make sure to have an even coat across your entire piece . If you find that the wood is not taking up the finish as easily as it should on the first coat then use more finish on your rag. I have also had good luck applying it then hitting the top with a heat gun to help the finish penetrate on the first coat. Obviously do not get the wood hot but it is just fine to keep the heat gun moving and get the finish a little warm to help it thin out. Here are a few pictures of pieces that I have finished with this. The coffee table is hickory and the desk is oak. The hickory table only has the first coat on it and was still wet but the oak desk has two coats and is completely cured. Hopefully this review was helpful and answered some of the concerns that I had when I was looking at trying this product.

Non-toxic, it works, and it provides a great natural finish
I was looking for a non-toxic way to seal a table while preserving the look of the wood I was using. This was perfect. Maybe my favorite part of this was that I was working on my project in the middle of winter and it was freezing outside. It was so nice to be able to work inside with this knowing it's safe for me and my family to be around. I had no issues with the dry time, I was able to put a coat on each day and by the fourth day the project was complete. I have plenty left over so I'm about to start a larger project with it.

Great for Restoration of Antiques
Bought this to refinish an antique gunstock which still had traces of original varnish, plus numerous scratches, dents, and gouges. At first I was going to strip all remaining varnish off the stock and lightly sand it with 1000 grit emory paper, but then thought I'd try the product on the stock as it was...glad I did. A light coat applied with a rag and rubbed in blended perfectly with what finish remained, filled in minor scratches, and gave the stock an overall uniform finish - no darkening, mottling, streaking or other undesirable effects. Per instructions, I let it dry 24 hours and then hand buffed it out, finishing with a light coat of crystalline museum wax, itself buffed out when dry. It still looks like an antique gunstock with all the original scratches, etc, but instead of a "damaged" stock, it has a nice, semi-shiny patina very much in character with the age of the overall firearm. Excellent product, no "solventy" smell, dries in time specified, easy to buff out, and looks great. I'm definitely sold on this product for restoration work.

I want to start out by saying I am not a wood worker, I am not a DIYer, and I have never finished wood before. I am a mom who needed a non-toxic finish for a bed frame and ChatGPT recommended this one! I was a little hesitant to order this after reading the one-star reviews of people saying it was sticky and wouldn’t dry etc. After actually using the stuff, I have come to the conclusion that these people are absolutely out to lunch and definitely did not ready the instructions. I used this to finish a bed frame my husband made out of your typical 2 x 4 lumber. First impressions: the smell is not bad at all, and a little goes a loooong way. I cut up an old tshirt and put a dime sized amount of Tried and True onto it and began to rub it into the wood, going with the grain. The difference this stuff makes is unreal! The wood which had been sanded with 100 grit and felt a little rough is now sooo smooth. The wood grain and details are much more pronounced and now has a nice subtle sheen. The process was quick and basically mess free. The wood does not feel wet, tacky, or even the slightest bit greasy. I can’t wait to rub the steel wool on and see how much better it gets! A message for the “experts” that rated this stuff one-star: it isn’t stain… you don’t coat the wood with it!

Excellent product and easy to apply. I used Tried & True Original Wood Finish to rejuvenate a wooden plinth from a vintage turntable. After a very light sanding and two coats of Tried and True the plinth looked fantastic. Highly recommended.

Quite pricey but only used a 1/2 a pint to hand rub the case on my my restored antique piano. Did not leave a high sheen just a natural protected wood type finish. As far as odor, it had a natural seed type odor versus a toxic chemical smell, which is why I opted for this in the first place.
