Good reference document while doing a transmission overhaul.

I have to say that I have an old Pontiac and the Haynes Books have taken me where I need to go to get the job done where I have taken my car to half a dozen places in my town with no help but more headaches, and spending too much money for Labor. Easy to read and understand. The illustrations take you right to the core of any repair, and it allows me to do better work than any mechanic. You got a fairly simple repair... Don't make the mistake that I did and get hit in the wallet for a bunch of Useless Labor costs... Get the Haynes book, invest in some good tools, and get it done right the first time around.

This gives enough infomation to allow the reader to know what special tools to buy or improvise, how to check parts during disassemble, what to do to repair and reassemble so that the end result is that the transmission works well. Detailed reassemble drawing showing each piece and where it goes. Worth the money just to read and enjoy before tackling a messy problems transmission. The book seller delivered before I expected the book to be here and the book is in excellent condition. I like that Amazon made finding this book so easy and quick too. Using Amazon saved me several days of sitting at the computer looking for the right book at the right price on other sites that are not user friendly. Amazon had what I needed, when I needed it and for a good price with quick delivery too. All the bells and whistles in one place, what a deal!

I used this book to rebuild a 700r4 for a 1984 z28. The book gives a lot of detail this is my first auto trans rebuild. you need this book if you never done a auto trans rebuild. You will need this book even if you have done this before. The trans works fine now it is worth the investment.

This book works if you have the time and patients. Some things are better left to someone that does automatic transmission repair all day. To many parts and time consuming. Not worth the effort but the book does give great detail. I've been fixing and building muscle cars for 12 years and would rather pay next time to do this job.

I am a GM technician, was looking for good info on some of the older model trannies. I was impressed with the books' real world approach to dealing with a complicated subject. Lists all the special "J-tools" the factory recommends but shows you the handful that you really need. Concise and clear, step by step, yet assumes you're not an idiot, this book will help you get it done right.

The book was good for the basic stuff, but lacked in every area of a high performance build book. I looked thru it twice, one glance and the next for more detail and the book just didn't have the level of detail I was needing to get-r-done. The ATSG book had hand drawn pics, but it showed the really important items to get the job done correctly. Not just a bunch of pics that have no explanation to them to know what was important. I may look thru it one more time before selling it.
