Q: How many times can you put these in and take them out before it starts to ruin the shoe?

I would say dedicate a pair to use with these and don’t plan on taking them out, enough will fall out on their own. They seemed like a good idea, but I’ll be going back to Yak Trax as too many of these get lost on a run.

Q: Do they ruin the shoe bottoms?

No - they do not ruin the shoe bottoms. In fact if you take them out of the rubber sole, you can't even tell where the spikes were. They are pretty amazing!

Q: Is this the 3/8 size recommended for running shoes? I don’t want to order the longer ones by mistake.

I have the 3/8 inch size in a pair of boots. The thinnest part of the soul on my boots is 5/8 inch thick. They worked great on solid ice which was on a hill. I could not slide even when I tried. The soles on my Nike tennis shoes are 5/8 inch @ the toe & to about 1 1/8 inch @ the heal. The 3/8 inch would work just fine in those shoe. The 3/8 means that the thread are 3/8 of an inch long. If the soles of your running shoes are over 3/8 inch or more then the 3/8 will work just fine. I hope this helps.
