Wow best router I have had. Reliable. Had it now a few months. Changed the firmware to open source to improve functionality and am even happier. The WiFi Handel’s a lot of traffic and doesn’t it well compared to two other routers I have tryed.

Purchase price £210Netgear NightHawk R80008 month update - has performed without any issues and has not given me any cause to regret my purchase. The best type of tech simply performs well in the background with no fuss. I don't use all of the many features but I have 10-20 devices connected by cable and over wifi at any one time.********************When choosing wireless network devices one of the biggest problems is understanding the number of competing devices from your neighbours and what channels they are on. If you have an iPhone, iPad, Mac etc. you can use the Airport Utility App which has a WiFi scan feature. After I had issues connecting in my 13 year old house I discovered we were being swamped by other peoples signals and ended up getting the Netgear R8000. It seemed like a lot of money but I can now connect at full speed (35Mps down and 10Mps up), without drop off anywhere in the house or garden - about 70ft through at least 4 stud walls and the cavity wall. This has effectively doubled my range and boosted the signal strength. It also gave me a 20% increase in my wired download (35Mps from 30Mps) and upload speed (10Mbs from 8Mps).
