Excellent - product and service
I have several much higher end watches (Tag Heuer/Oris for example) but the design of the Ingersoll appealed and I think the brand was one of first watches I had back in the day (from my Dad). After ordering I had second thoughts and thought I'd return it - but it is excellent - good size (not too big even for my small wrists) - it could be heavier - very good presentation box etc and had all the film protection on the face, back, strap and buckles - really could not have been better. The glass is slightly magnified which is a nice touch. The strap is top quality. The automatic movement kicks in quickly. On the description - I ordered it in part because it was advertised an automatic - It is - but all of the "documentation" stated quartz - even on the outside packaging when delivered. I looked to buy another model but the description reviews seem confused also on other models. The Ingersoll brand seem to have great classic designs. The seller just needs to tighten up the product details - auto or quartz! I'll probably buy another....

Ingersoll "The Bateman". Unfortunately one dial not working properly.
This watch - which I thought LOOKED very nice initially in the listings pictures of it - unfortunately is either DESIGNED very poorly, or is built so poorly (or BOTH) that the 'year' dial does NOT work properly at all - & according to other purchasers of the same watch, at least TWO of the three 'complication' dials have to be 'operated manually' - which is kind of 'normal' for 'extra' dials on chronograph, but that would be for 'short range timer' type dials eg '30 or 60 sec timer', a '30 or 60 minute timer', or a stop watch. The pointers for those 'chronographs' would HAVE to be accurately placed othrerwise they would be as useless as a chocolate teapot in a volcano! When the 'extra dials' are (1-12) for the month & (21 - 31) for the years 2021-2031 (why only 10yrs total) AND you have to change these yourself AND the needle or hand NEVER points directly at the year I selected ('23'), then I wonder what 'real use' these dials WOULD HAVE BEEN (IF they actually worked) so, either the 'year dial' & its mechanism' is broken, or it is designed &/or built by idiots, OR since the month number also selected was '5' for MAY, I thought perhaps it was supposed to sit there in between the '23' & '24', but when I put the 'month' dial to '12' the 'year' dial pointer should have been sitting or resting directly on the year number. It (the year pointer) was not. It was mostly nowhere near it.Some 12-18 times (complete revolutions) of pressing the pusher to move the year number dial pointer onwards fully around the dial, it almost NEVER rested directly on the '23'.Some 'revolutions' of the pointer caused it to miss that year '23' completely by a 'couple of years' (all while the month pointer was on the '12')!!! Answer is it is broken, or was designed so poorly it was never going to be any use at all.The 'month' pointer WAS able to sit directly ON or point directly at, the selected number like I would expect without obscuring it (this dials' pointer is shorter), like the pointer for the YEAR dial would have done if it rested any where near where it should have rested (the pointer is far too long for THIS dial). As for the '24hr' dial, the pointer for this ought to be controlled by what the hr/min hands & day/date are showing, which in turn are controlled by use of the crown to set the day/date & hrs/mins/sec's. I have no idea if the 24hr dial would have been accurate, since I had given up on trying to properly set the watch times, dates, month, year etc by then. This watch is also MISdescribed in part of the listing as having a 5ATM water resistance (which is 50m or about 165ft) even though the dial clearly states '10ATM'.Whatever.Since there is also no SCREW DOWN CROWN on this watch AND there are also two 'pushers' for those useless or broken dials, I doubt it can't withstand ANY immersion in water of ONE friggin meter, never mind 50m or 100m.As to what quality (or lack of it) exists with the 'automatic mechanical movement' inside it - I could not really say - except that while TRYING (for the first time ever) to wind it up, it also felt like it had been 'overwound' by someone else ALREADY as the action of winding it felt 'definitely NOT' right, like it was already worn out. This is all within the first hour of taking out of the packaging it arrived in - PAPER BAG!!!!!, AMAZON WTF!!!!!!!! - rather than an actual BOX containing some protective padding around the MANUFACTURERS packaging. No wonder then that it was damaged when it arrived! What a pile of crap!!!!!((((And so UNLIKE my experience (so far) with my 'Ingersoll, "The Trenton" ('Swiss Made' Quartz movement) watch by Ingersoll', which arrived PROPERLY packaged with bubble wrap around the carboard sleeve (with Trenton Watch Co' on it), covering a proper WOODEN 'Cigar type' box - that also has the Trenton Watch Co' logo on it several times, the watch being contained in this Box (as per 'manufacturers description' in the listing), with specificly shaped recesses for the watch, the manual AND the METAL 'certificate of authenticity'. THIS watch did not even cost that much more - £219 for the Trenton, rather than £138 for the 'cheap, crappy, broken 'The Bateman'))).'The Ingersoll, "The Bateman" watch was stored in an 'imitation leather' sleeve, was then placed in a 'retail type quality' rectangle box (watch laid out FLAT) where the bottom part of the box slid sideways out of a larger outer box. No complaints about THIS design of box.Unfortunately its' contents turned out to be a pile of crap.I hope this HONEST review helps someone else BEFORE they make the mistake I made. When I have properly tested 'The Trenton' model watch - also an Ingersoll, but sold & delivered by 'Watch Nation', compared to AMAZON EU (germany), who sold & shipped the crappy (Ingersoll 'the bateman') watch described here, I will let you all know with ANOTHER, HONEST review, which will NOT pull any punches.Best wishesUpdate as of 29 June 2023:I finally managed to get Amazon to promise to repay the FULL cost of this watch, without returning it!Good job too, since as of this afternoon (watch has NOT been used & was worn for less than 30 seconds - & was back in the box after being out of it for no more than ten minutes), the dial with the biggest problem - the 'YEAR' dial - no longer has ANY function at all visible (rather than a poorly placed 'pointer'), since that pointer has now fallen off of the shaft & is loose under the glass!!! WTF?????Since I was told I can keep it!!!!....................Why would I want to keep it????........I decided to take it too a watch repair shop - since it should now be effectively 'free'.Unfortnately the 'Horologist' at the repair shop said finding a replacement movement that will actually fit in the case & be one that will actually work with that case (as well as replacing the dial to match the new movement) is likely impossible. Even IF possible to repar it, it would cost far more to do that than the watch originally cost AND the watch would then be worth verry little, & certainly less than it would have cost to get it fixed.PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP watch.I am NOT saying it is crap because it is 'Chinese'. I am saying it is crap because it IS crap. Crap is crap wherever it comes from.

Stylish, comfortable and reasonable priced
This a lovely watch to wear and extremely comfortable.. I'm bit old now but I think it's stylish.. it's different from the other watches I have and it does stand out in a good way... it does lose time if it's not worn.. but that is literally the only downside to it...there are worse things to have to do other than wear a nice watch

Great product worth twice the price
A really good watch has a good weight to it looks stylish. And has many of the details of a more expensive watch. Very pleased to have it in my collection. Also very easy to set.

Very chunky automatic watch
*Just to be clear, this is an AUTOMATIC watch not a Quartz Watch, despite the confused product description.Automatic watches are all the rage these days. Whilst this means that they are less accurate than a Quartz watch (all though low end Quartz mechanisms aren’t necessarily very accurate time keepers either) the sheer mechanics of an automatic watch, powered by nothing more than your wrist movements, are what lend them their charm. The rear of the watch allows you to see the movement as it works a away.As to the watch itself: it’s big and chunky; and when I say chunky I mean CHUNKY, 14mm of chunkiness to be exact, which for me is way too much. Even the leather strap is 4mm thick (although that I like). The face I really like. While it’s more cluttered than I’d usually choose, it’s elegantly laid out. It has three sub dials: 24 hours; month (numbers only, 1 to 12); and year. The year dial is something of a damp squib, running only from year 16 to 27. Worse, once set, the year is completely hidden by the sub dial’s hand anyway, meaning you cannot read it. All three sub dials are easily set by the chunky buttons.A nice touch is the telemeter scale running round the outside of the face, allowing you to gauge how many kilometres away a flash of lightning was when it struck (you set the seconds hand to run when you see the flash and stop it when you hear the thunder, allowing you to read off the distance). The lume on the hands however is very disappointing, paling significantly in comparison with the lume on, say, an Orient Ray II. The watch is waterproof to 10atm, which means it will survive a shower but not much else (then again it’s hardly aimed at the diver watch market). The glass is very slightly domed.Sadly the sheer thickness of the watch is a real dealbreaker for me. If it was thinner I’d like it a lot more, as the watch face itself is very elegant.
