Don't do that! In the past, I had a laptop reader that was designed to be swiped, but this one is not like that. I was initially getting very frustrated with this reader's unreliability and thinking of returning it, but then I noticed another review that says you should press your finger on the reader and not swipe it. That sorted it out. Its useless ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I figured it out! *by S***N on 9 May 2026* Having had the 2 days when it worked then it stopped working after about a week I worked it out. I have windows laptops and Macbooks and this fingerprint reader is far less forgiving, those allow you to dab away at the reader but this does not. On Windows it will take the image as soon as your finger hits the reader, which is only 5mm of the whole "pad" area for the finger, and will keep taking readings so for Windows the 3 attempts is exhausted quickly. So I learnt to place finger in the top curve and then press quick and firm and it seems to work most times (reading the middle of the fingerprint).
