BionaOrganic Risotto Rice Brown, 500gEU Organic

I love this rice. It is wholesome and nutty in flavour. I make a family paella a couple of times a year and it is an important ingredient for this get together. I did a dress rehearsal cooking with it because these things need to be right on the day. I therefore suggest soaking for up to 6 hours before cooking, this brings the cooking time closer to non brown Arborio. Treat the ingredient right and get a perfect and wholesome dish.

I was really worried after reading the other reviews that this was going to come with insects inside, but checked very carefully on arrival and all the bags were fine. Haven't had to soak overnight either, just cooked longer than I would white risotto rice. Like brown rice it'll never be as soft or quite the same as white rice but it's delicious if you like the wholegrain taste and much healthier if you're looking to increase wholegrain intake. We're already almost out, so will be reordering regularly.

Not creamy as white rice but still good

Best brown risotto rice. It’s hard to get brown risotto rice and this cooks well. Not quite arborio puffiness but a quality grain.

The product was good quality, however, did not make a nice risotto. I followed all instructions.. Better to use barley and whole oats instead of brown risotto rice for a low gm risotto..

I would never buy this product again. I bought a pack of 6, opened 1 to use and stored the other 5 to use subsequently. However we never got to use them as in the meantime little black bugs started appearing all over the house which we finally tracked down to the UNOPENED packs. Guessing it is rice weevils which had hatched inside the packs, okay that can happen - BUT if they had been properly packaged and sealed instead of these thin plastic covers which are folded over and a bit of sellotape at the top then the blighters would not have escaped and infested the whole house. Utter waste of money, the rice wasn't cheap either! Come on Biona sort out your packaging - you can afford to at the exorbitant price you are charging . However I will never purchase your products again after this horrible experience.

I was honestly a little bit hesitant about buying brown risotto rice....although I like brown rice generally, and it's healthier, than white rice, I was worried the brown risotto rice would not have the same creaminess....this was not true!!! Although it took a little bit longer than normal risotto rice to cook (I cook alternating with white wine and chicken stock), when the rice was done, it was just as creamy as I would expect with white. And as an extra bonus, it's organic! Definitely recommend!

Nice rice. I only eat brown or whole grain rice so this was a find
