Great little perimeter alarm to arm.

I've been raising cattle for nearly 20 years up here in the mountains of Colorado. I've always had problems with deer and elk stealing my hay. Now a big herd of elk have been terrorizing my hay all winter long, I'm using tarps covered with pallets. The toss the pallets around and break them, tear up my tarps and eat my hay. I finally found these and strung them up around my hay and boy do they work good! I should have used these years ago. I'm using the Cheddite 209 primers and they fit perfectly. I had one malfunction and then realized that these work like mini firearms, you need to oil them up with gun oil! I oiled them and now they are all working great. Last night I had two of them go off (out of three). Just a few more nights and I'm sure I will be free of wildlife around my hay. Even now they don't touch my hay, tarps or pallets, it's such a relief! The one that didn't go off from lack of lubrication, I actually set it off by hand from arms length and boy these primers are loud, my ears were ringing for about 30 seconds! One word of caution, I'm a bit freaked out by screwing these together with a live primer in them even with a double safety clip on there. If it does go off when you screw them together it seems like the firing port could really mess up your fingers if you happen to have your finger over the holes when it goes off. I'm thinking of putting an extension on the bottom maybe with some epoxy and a bolt so that I can screw them together without having to get near the firing port. Just seems like they could use this extra safety feature. Other than that I would highly recommend these. I just bough 1,000 primers which should last me a lifetime. I bought three of these, thinking of getting a few more. These would be great for camping in the wilderness in bear country. Up here we have bears, wolves, and mountain lions. If I were camping up here I'd put two four sided perimeters around my tent every night.

Bought 209 shotgun primers as described. They didn’t fit in they were too large. Had to drill them out with1/4” drill bit to get them to fit. The firing pin was also too large at striking point so wouldn’t work. I ground down the pin to more of point. It works great after the modifications. Super loud and should work great as long as you clean regularly. Just not ready out of the box like they say. Not sure what primers are meant for it but the 209 primers I got don’t fix in. The primers I did get work great and are cheap now that I remachined them. . $16 for 100 at cabelas.

I was skeptical of this product but not anymore! Easy to set up and load for using a primer! We use them in camp for bears and sometimes I set them up for airsoft wars in the woods!

Very disappointed in this product. 209 primers Do Not fit. It was also missing the safety pin.
