Got it working, check your source system settings
Got this working with the Nintendo Wii! It took some time to figure out but happy with the results. The sound is perfect and the video is decent. I almost returned this as the video was black and white, split and duplicated on my TV. Tried pressing all the button combinations on the RetroScaler2x but couldn't get it working properly. I went into the Wii screen resolution settings and changed the output from 480p to 480i, instant success. There's no lag on the video or audio but haven't tried any intensive games, just Wii Sports. For reference, my video is being output to an LG 4k OLED TV with no issues. The HDMI cord is running through a Pioneer Elite receiver, then to the TV, also no issues. So far, really happy with this product. Some reviewers said to do a Firmware update but I could not find any instructions for doing this. Went to the manufacturer website as well as their GitHub support page but no luck. A commenter said they stopped providing Firmware updates because it was bricking some devices. I'll keep an eye on whether this changes and update my review of I see something. Attached are the before and after pictures of the resolution change. Going to keep testing other consoles to see if there are any limitations for this device.

Amazing Device, worth the extra cost Amazon is asking.
Absolutely fantastic image quality! Using this with a SNES and S-Video, 2X mode with NO smoothing, this is the best image I've ever seen out of my console. Whereas most other devices will upscale and "smear" the image, this little thing actually integrally scales the image on both axis evenly and deinterlaces, leading to proper pixel distribution at higher resolutions. Before purchasing, you should be aware that these are sold on other websites for around 20 dollars and are just generic Chinese made clones of the RetroTink. However if like me, you love Amazons return policy and didn't want to wait 2 weeks, the less than 100 dollar price itself is still worth it if you intend to put 100s of hours into a system, or more. Screenshot below using the settings I listed, directly from my Super Nintendo.

It’s garbage.
It technically works, but it adds way too much lag, specially for rhythm games. It’s advertised as “no lag,” that’s a lie. It’s also way overpriced and I had to mess around with it and plug it in and unplug it a bunch of times before I finally got it to work.

Update the official firmware and reset defaults and it works great!
Ordered these while trying to streamline my retro gaming setup. I ordered one for an SNES and one for an N64. When I initially received them I was convinced they were broken. Turning on the console sent a signal maybe 1/10 times and there was around a 30 second delay IF it would even show anything. After going to the manufacturer website and downloading the firmware tool and updating to the 0.8.4 firmware these actually work really well! There is about a 2-4 second startup delay after the console powers on, but they reliably work and I can completely live with this. I previously had been switching consoles using a Retro Scaler 2X which worked great, but was hoping to be able to do less cable juggling and switching by adding some additional scalers into the mix. I think the Retro Scaler 2X is also maybe by Bitfunx. The picture quality with the S-Video + 2X + Smoothing looks basically identical to the Retro Scaler, except now I have slightly less of an octopus setup connected to the TV. The pictures are very clear, without color striping. The edges are crisp but not harsh. It looks as you would hope from a 480p output of a really old console, and is miles better than using component or S-video cables directly. Highly recommend this, but definitely make sure you update the firmware and reset the defaults!!! I don't know why they arrived in such a strange state, but both I received worked very poorly before the firmware update, so I think this is a manufacturing thing.

Works Great
Got this hooked up last night. Little blurry, the "smoothing button" didn't seem to do anything but that could be me not understanding how to use it.

Mid tier scaler
I suppose yes convenient, though the quality is terrible. I am getting an el gato capture card to rule out the quality coming from my old skool capture card, though I highly doubt the fuzziness is coming from there. I thought the clear click capture card and converter was bad but it was better than this setup I currently am running. The image also flickers at time. The line scaling and filtering options really don't enhance anything. This could be convenient at best but seems to mostly be 2x the price it should be.

Money well spent!
I’m very pleased with the RetroScaler 2x. My retro games looked so bad on our larger flat screen tv’s and this device improves the picture of my old gaming systems a lot.
