The case is thick enough to provide significant protection from knocks and bumps, but isn't overbearing like some of those rather awkward rubber cases you can get for DSLR cameras. It makes the GPS very easy to handle and provides very good grip. It wraps around snuggly and does not move around at all. The top power button is easy to operate. A screen protector is accommodated without a problem. So why not 5 stars? Well - and this is really annoying - there's no small hole on the top to accommodate the small LED. This indicates the GPS is turned on when the 'blank the screen / click a button' option is set. So a button has to be pressed to check whether the unit is live, rather than just looking at it.
