Q: Is the ratchet system supposed to make so much noise?

Mine makes the sound of a loud spring like ping, when I open up the handles to take a cut at branch for example.

Q: What warranty do these Davaon loppers come with?

When I bought this lopper I didnt consider the warranty .when I recieved it from Amazon I was immediately delighted by the well engineered tool .I bought this about two years ago it cuts through roots,branches etc like butter .The best lopper i have ever bought you won't be disappointed

Q: Do these have a cut and hold function ?

There is no hold function per-say, but for thick branches on your first bite the jaw stays locked in position and allow you to open the arm (ratchet action) and then applies more pressure and more cut. These are by far the best ever loppers I have ever used. They will slice through thick branch your average lopper would even have look in. They maybe more expensive - but trust me these loppers are best thing ever and you'll never want to own anything else after this. Additionally the handles lock into position an prevent accidental retraction of the handles. - I am not affiliated with Davaon in any way I'm just the end user and very pleased I made the investment.
