My anticipation for receiving this key component for making my own hardwood dowels was unfounded it appears. 1st-4th try’s gave me nothing but frustration as this tool spun in its hole (using first the provided bit & then using a smaller bit for a pilot hole into oak). It just did not hold but spun in the chuck or the wood… I even added steel wool for more bite in the hole. Disappointed & still wondering… how to use?

Gives you a sure grip on your work piece if you are making dowels or turning down an end.

Product arrived on time and well packaged. Unfortunately it has not worked for me. The wood seems to spin continuously, therefore not providing the grip needed to push through a dowel making tool. Fits well in my drill, well made

Super simple, just drill your pilot hole and slap this bad boy on there.

The concept is good but this little adapter has almost no thread so it doesn’t stay inside the wood..it strips out of the piece of wood with hardly any pressure. All 3 piece I tried with maple failed. I was hoping this would be a quick alternative to my lathe for small dowels but sadly no.

Concept is good but it is hard to get this to center on the wood. Very wobbly!

This stylish piece of metal is superb with beautiful lines and curves . This product will enhance the beauty of any drill it finds itself attached too. A must for any dowel maker who wants beauty along with product quality. I would definitely recommend. 👍

Does not hold in wood

This is an excellent idea but the screw thread is simply wrong. It has a 'fine' thread rather like a self-tapping screw and that is no good at all for most wood. Pretty well as soon as I tried it, the wood thread 'stripped' in the dowel I was spinning. It WILL do that in most wood as soon as the load strays above minimal. My solution was to insert a coach-screw into the hole this device had made, cut off the head and insert the remaining shaft into a drill. That worked perfectly and cost me 'nothing'. I suggest that you use a 'centre-finder' before drilling the end of your 'stick'.

The thread could do wth being a bit courser

Not fit for purpose. Tried to turn some 20mm dowel with this in a dowl cutting jig. The thread is too small, did not hold the dowel.
