This is a really complete set that has everything you'll need to get started. The provided templates can be a little tricky to attach and have limited usage, but part of the carving journey is making stuff up. The gloves are super great at keeping your hand safe against accidental swipes, but not against accidental pokes. You'd probably want to put some of the provided tape on your fingers under the glove.

I bought this to try something new and it is pretty cool didn’t know nothing about working with wood but once you start messing around with it and get into it’s not bad all all the tools are great quality the gloves are also good and comes with plenty of wood to use

I am a new customer and new to the wood carving world. I bought this set because I thought it was a good idea to get all that I needed in one box. I want to say that this product was worth the money for a beginner like myself. The safety items are most needed as I found out very quickly. The only complaint I might have is that the basswood blocks were very hard to work on even after soaking them with water and alcohol. and some of the knives needed to be worked on. Would I recommend this item for a beginner yes.

The carving tools are sharp and smooth. Very easy to use, fits perfectly in you hand. My son loves it! It's amazing!! Thank you

Some of the tools aren't robust enough for the carving I wanted to do, but I got a lot out of the practice from using them!

My boys are learning this skill, I bought a variety of items separately including this kit, If you are just starting out to test their interest and their ability this is all you need. With proper supervision this is great, and when ready to invest time then buy higher quality, this serves the immediate interest need so well, very pleased.

This is a great starter kit. I learned everything about the basics I needed to know from this kit and did a couple small piece right away and got hooked. Beginner kit though for sure, it can be a little rough to get through some pieces of wood and shape how you want with the limited tools and their quality. But it did teach me what I wanted to do and with what tool I should use for certain situations. I upgraded my tools at an art store and there’s a big difference with ease of cutting and shaping. But I give large credit to this kit for getting me going and loving a new creative hobby

I bought this for my son to learn to whittle and this was not beginner friendly and extremely difficult to use. the instructions didn’t show you how to do anything just gave you an outline to glue to wood and that was that. The knives provided were not even sharp enough to cut through the wood properly. However the wood seemed good thick quality wood. This was a decent sized kit for the money but i’m just not comfortable giving my son a bunch of dull knives and no instruction and saying go for it. I did appreciate the cut free gloves but I just cannot recommend this product for beginners especially, I returned it.
