This is a very well made heater and I would recommend it

Leaks kerosene! Had to replace two of the “too small screws” with larger ones to be sufficient enough to even pick it up without coming apart. Wick could no longer be maneuvered with control knob after several uses. Overpriced!

Have been wanting a heater that is less btu as it’s bigger version which does over 23000btu. This unit is measured to do around 9500 which meets my needs for an emergency backup heater if we happen to lose power. I’ve read in the comments that most people have good things to say as well as other that complained about its wick burning and having to replace it and complaints about the smell of kerosene that it puts off to the large amount of fuel it uses. I will say I’ve not seen any of that with the short time I’ve used it making sure it works for what I need. So far the smell is minimal compared to others when you first fire it up. It seems to be burning very evenly around the wick and the heat output is great. I ran the unit for around 6 hrs the first time and used about a gallon more or less of reg kerosene which is much more efficient than the bigger units which is expected, use half the amount for half the btu output, as long as you adjust the flame properly. If you see the flames dancing off the top of the “mantle” then your running the flame to high and of course you will over burn the wick and have a smell of kerosene coming from the unit. I suspect this might have been the issue people have had that left bad reviews. This unit is simple to operate and once it’s warmed up, takes maybe a minute, and you have the flame set you need not mess with and it does what it’s made to do put off heat. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an alternative heater or a backup unit for emergencies.

I'm updating my review and rating because after revisiting this heater that I didn't think was usable it turned out that I just had to give it a lot more time to warm up and to continually make wick adjustments in order to get it to burn properly and now I'm somewhat pleased with it.I had to play with it and watch it for at least an hour before I got a satisfactory and clean burning flame so patience is the key with this product. I also ended up removing the domed screen on top as it seemed to really hinder its performance.If the manufacturer would simply include detailed information on the time frame it takes to get the flame right there would be more satisfied customers.As far as the frame and cooking surface goes, it's rather flimsy and I wouldn't use it for cooking unless you stay with it the whole time.I'm updating my stars from one to three since revisiting it.It came double boxed and fully assembled but the good stops there!I filled it with newly purchased kerosene, let the wick soak and then lit it outside on a level surface. I spent a good half hour messing with the wick height and slide and could not ever get it to burn evenly or clean.Now I've used kerosene heaters for 25 years and have a 24,000 BTU heater which works excellently but puts out way too much heat for my small mobile home, so I know them very well. But this one isn't even fit for a landfill! Very poorly made with very thin gauge steel.Pouring my kerosene back out and sending this POS back if I can. It's a scam for this to even be on the market. It's useless!!!

This heater was only lit 3 times and now it will not give off any heat to speak of. I would like to return this for a refund.

The media could not be loaded. The unit I received leaks fuel from the knob which controls the wick (see video). I tried to make a return within 30 days, but the seller would not accept it. They said it was a non-refundable item. I had to call Amazon and they made it right.
