Great value compact electro-acoustic, probably not the best travel guitar but great when plugged in
I would not use this as an acoustic travel guitar by choice, there are others that sound better, the very small shallow body is never going to sound very full. But I bought is as a guitar to play through a PA system, and it has a really good pickup system that can give a very full sound, especially if you have a preamp or mixer with good EQ. It's very small and compact which I like as my main guitar is a Lukas Brunner B-Compact travel guitar which has convinced me that I don't need a great big box. The Brunner sounds a lot better but it costs more than ten times the price. So this is a very good backup, if you were looking for a great little affordable guitar for gigging with a PA, or busking with a busking amp, this is a very good choice. It's ideal for me as a backup instrument. The pickup is great, it's Yamaha's alternative to an under-saddle ribbon, instead it's attached to the bracing which gives a more natural sound. I have a similar system from K&K on my other guitars and its much better than the ribbon ones. The guitar has a really good playing action, just amazing value all round.
