Kam Yen Jan Chinese Style Sausage 12oz (Pack of 3)

I was introduced to this uniquely flavorful product half a century ago, by one of my coworkers, when she shared her lunch with me. I asked her about what I had just enjoyed and she explained to me how to prepare it. You put it in a pan on low level, after you slow boil about an inch of water, pop in the sausage. Cover them until water is partly evaporated, so the pork can steam them through, then turn them over cover, and allow the remainder of the water to evaporate. Carefully watch and turn sausages over until they brown properly. Careful not to over or under cook the sausage, so they do not dry out and lose their juices altogether. I did not need her to explain the indescribable, rich flavor. These sausages are uniquely delicious, and it was a wonderful memory I have of her that I return to when I purchase them. When I have these sausages, as I do, from time to time, I am reminded of a long ago friend. Reminded of her generosity, and the delicious gift she shared with me that day. "Chinese sausage," are sometimes difficult to find, outside of ethnic communities where Asian products such as these are available. I had to order online at Amazon, because they are not available where I live. Wherever you live, for those who want to add an exciting, new flavor to their diet, adventurous people out there like you. You can thank me later, because with white rice, Basmati, or other carb of your choice, and vegetable of your choosing, these sweet tasting, pork fat, duck liver, and oyster sauce containing sausages will amaze and delight you and your guests. Simple, and simply exotic, scrumptious and packed with unusual flavor for newcomers, I suggest you get to know the full range of pork, beef, chicken, duck liver, "Han Chinese sausages." You and your taste buds will be glad you did. Great with plain white rice, or jasmine rice, if you prefer, try them and see for yourself, what you have been missing.

Never thought I'd buy lup cheong (Chinese sausage) from Amazon. But this works. It is honest to goodness sausage, well packed. But sausages ain N America are not what I was used to in Asia. Not yhat these are not real. They are just too lean and lacked the intense flavors esprlecially the Chinese red wine used in making it. I have bought Vancouver brands as well. No difference. The dry goods grocers in HK and Malaysia and Singapore still carry the original stuff. Superb for flavoring clay pot chicken rice and frying rice snd noodles. Used it in stuffing turkey and especially duck.

Product met expectations and price was great! Will purchase more in the future.

These are delicious and so easy to make. They have a long shelf life if unopened. We always keep a couple packs in our pantry.
