DIY Radio Kit FM Radio Receiver Module

I was expecting static sounding audio but instead it was crystal clear stereo sound. The channels advanced up and down nicely and the audio sound buttons work very well also. My only negative is that I felt that the left and right audio buttons operate backwards. The left button increases the sound and the right lowers the sound level, however they function properly.The kit is so small that all the parts fit inside the battery tray. At first I thought something was missing, but sure enough, all the parts were there with the correct quantity and values. The pc board was of good quality also. The manual had to be downloaded by scanning a QR code and was limited in its instruction but the pc board was clearly marked with all the reference designators and values, so it made assembly a snap. I completed my board in 30 min.I had alot of fun soldering this kit together and ended up with a nice easy to use digital radio in the end. Well worth the time and money.

Controlled purchase, I like the product very much.This is amazingly small FM Heterodyne radio built on single microchip. Assembling is simple and straight forward, start with passive components and follow writings on the board and capacitors. Inductors are marked by strike codes, but easier just follow a simple symmetry sense - two identical paired in the envelop go to the place where two equal inductors are marked on the board. The one with smaller nominal value goes at its unique place on the board. All knobs are identical and could be soldered only one reasonable way. All works even without detailed instruction. Last thing is to solder the chip. Sharpen your solder tip down to 0.5 mm and you will be fine to do the job. Line up the corner mark on the chip with reference mark on the board. I placed sticky tape at the top of the microchip to fix it at the board leaving one edge open. Solder first two leads at the edge, then two on other edge, and finally all others one by one. Try to use heat as short as possible period.As a battery I use a single cell Li Ion 3.7V ICR10440. Supplied battery holder for two Alkaline batteries is quite poor technically, I replaced it with black single cell holder.Think of using it as a middle school electronics project, it is not braking the bank but we expect a tons of fun with it.Big thanks to developers!

What was not obvious to me by the pictures is that this thing is tiny. Like, minuscule. In the photos, it shows a boy assembling it. Well, if all is to scale, the boy is about 6 inches tall in the photo. But they don’t tell you that the photo is NOT to scale.In my house it became a joke. This was supposed to be a Christmas present but because it is so ridiculously small, we had some fun by wrapping it in a series of larger boxes & difficult wrapping. It was funny to watch him open. Although, he was sort of upset when he realized the tiny trinket inside. Perhaps next time I should put something more significant in.In conclusion, don’t buy this. It’s a joke. If you’re learning to solder, this is a terrible, small project to start on. Only buy this as a joke.

I Carefully soldered the kit together and it did nothing , didn't work went over the entire assembly and checked for loose or cold connections found nothing incorrect. It just didn't work. Given the nature of the item I didn't try to get a refund. I left a review stating this, and they contacted me offering solutions, I was very impressed this is a quality company to do business with and I will do so In the future.

Doesn't come with instructions but you can easily figure it out by the PCB and looking at the amazon page if confused. It has an SMD chip on the back which I wasn't prepared for and wouldn't have bought this if I knew it had it. I thought it was all through holes. If you don't have flux buy it to make this part easier.Ultimately I didn't do the chip perfectly and the device would turn on but wouldn't do anything else but buzz.Because of the SMD chip which are one of the hardest chips to solder when starting out I do not believe this is beginner friendly.4/5 because I'm assuming if I soldered the chip perfectly it would have worked.EIDT as of 9/24 repurchased it and everything worked perfectly fine. Still keep in mind you need flux to solder in the SMD chip. Otherwise you're going to spend a lot of time in bridging connections.
