Looking for a PoE+ switch with 48 ports?
Looking for a PoE+ switch with 48 ports? I’ve been using this Linksys LGS352MPC 48 Port Gigabit Network PoE+ Switch in a home/business environment with lots of PoE and PoE+ devices. The switch has 48 Gb ports that easily handle my Ethernet, PoE, and PoE+ requirements. (740W power budget). The switch build quality is excellent with the case being metal (I assume to reduce RF issues). The power cord is three prong and quite sturdy. Installation was simple: -I installed the switch in a standard 19” rack. (No rack screws were included, four required). -Updated firmware (Strangely, firmware updates are applied through HTTP instead of HTTPs even though this is supposed to be a business class switch). -Added new admin username, (removed old Admin) -Configured switch to my environment -Moved Ethernet connection over to new switch and done Total installation and configuration time was less than an hour. The switch is extremely loud: 60dBa-70dBa. There are three fans on the left side of the switch that can run up to 8200 rpm and they put out lots of noise. I removed all PoE+, PoE and Ethernet devices except my laptop and the sound levels didn’t change. I thought that removing the power load would allow the switch to run cooler. After 24 hours of the switch being off and only one non-PoE device attached to the switch, it didn’t make a difference. (See sound level screenshot photo). The sound level is fine for a teleco closet, but be sure the switch has lots of air conditioning to keep cool. (No settings in configuration menu for fan options). I really like the four 10G uplink SFP+ slots. Those will be useful when I upgrade my network. Business wise, the switch also supports MAC-based port security, so you can lock down parts of your network if desired. Recommended

All the Features You Could Want for Under $1k
This is really amazing deal for such a capable network switch. If your office is like ours you have been adding devices to give your network new and modern features. We had one switch for the number of ports, another for POE, another for VLAN and advanced routing features. This switch has allowed us to replace them all with a single switch that does it all. The switch is basically plug and play for anyone who just wants a capable POE switch. (You'll want to check for updates for the firmware but that was a quick 5 minute process. Other than that it's completely plug and play if you aren't needing any of the more advanced features.) The SFP+ ports are really awesome. They are an awesome way to future proof the switch. I used one of the four ports as an uplink to another switch. Being able to connect the two at 10G means that there is never any bottleneck between the two. Our Internet router also has SFP so I was able to connect that at 10G also. I also love that I'll be able to connect a server at 10G also. The SFP ports provide a lot of security since you can always add another switch if you need more capacity without fear of creating a bottleneck that will affect your network performance. Linksys also offers a 24-port version and non-PoE versions of this switch for around $500. Having everything in a single switch is amazing but if you don't need PoE that is a really affordable price. Overall very happy with the "Linksys LGS352MPC 48 Port Gigabit Network PoE+ Switch @ 740W with 4 x 10G Uplink SFP+ Slots - Advanced Security, QoS, Static Routing, VLAN, IGMP Features - Metal Housing, Desktop / Wall Mount".
