Fantastic!
We have a 9 month old baby and this is absolutely fantastic for the top of the stairs. No threshold to trip over. A full swing gate, so no tiny opening. Screws into the wall, so it’s pretty sturdy. And the color is perfect!! It matches the stain on our woodwork. Would recommend over and over again.

Beautiful, functional
We have now ordered our fourth one of these guys and LOVE them! There are not many baby gates as affordable and good looking at this one. Fits very well with our modern farmhouse design! Not sure why the bad reviews. We think they are extremely easy to install and open. We've even installed on on the bottom of our staircase bannister using a piece of wood and safety ties. I will say, these need to be screwed unto studs or using dry wall screws because our child like to bang the gate back and forth and one set of screws not in a stud did come out. Easy fix with dry wall anchors. People always comment that we got such nice baby gates and I always say, well, they are like the cheapest ones! They will be up for a while because we are expecting number two (two under two) but the brackets can be left on the wall and you can take the gate out if you were wanting to take them down for something.

Awesome, but comes sticky
First, this is great as far as security. We got it to replace one with a metal clasp that my son would just yank on and open. While this is SUPER secure - great for the top of the stairs, we’ve had it for probably 3 months and it’s just now starting to open and close easier. I think because it slides wood on wood, it takes a while to break in. Highly recommend, just going to take a little bit of patience to get it sliding smooth.

Love this baby gate!
I was looking for something that didn’t look like a typical baby gate. I took a chance on the color because it looked a little lighter in the example picture but it matched our stairs exactly! It was hard trying to open the gate at first but you get used to it. If I had the second chance I would definitely buy this product again!

Good Baby Gate for Even walls
I recently purchased the Evenflo Walk-Thru Top Of Stairs Baby Gate from the Farmhouse Collection for our home, and while it has several positives, there's one significant drawback that I'd like to point out: **Pros:** 1. **Stylish Farmhouse Design:** The Farmhouse Collection design of this baby gate is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. It complements our home decor wonderfully and doesn't feel out of place, which is a big plus. 2. **Secure and Safe:** Safety is paramount when it comes to baby gates, and this one lives up to expectations. It provides a reliable barrier to keep little ones out of potentially dangerous areas, such as staircases, providing peace of mind for parents. 3. **Walk-Thru Feature:** The walk-thru feature is incredibly convenient for adults. It allows easy passage without the need to climb over the gate, which is especially handy when you have your hands full. **Cons:** 1. **Challenges with Floor Boards:** One notable issue we encountered during installation was that the gate didn't install well with our floorboards. The gate's design might not be compatible with certain floorboard types, which caused it to be somewhat wobbly and less secure than we'd prefer. We had to find creative solutions to address this instability.

Look elsewhere, bad operation and flimsy.
This toddler gate is effective in the most basic sense of the word because once properly installed and closed it will keep your child out; however with the other options out there I would never recommend this gate to anyone. Installation: The installation is relatively easy. It requires you to put several holes in the walls or door frame, but the advantage of gate that screw in versus tension is that when they are open you get virtually the entire width of the door or wall. With tension gates you end up with a much narrower passage and a bar across the floor. This gate has a decent paper guide to help you put the screws in the correct location. Operation: Here is where it goes downhill. The fence itself has a quick removal feature, so that whenever the gate isn’t locked shut you can remove it just by lifting it out of the mounting bracket. This seems nice in theory, but the entire point of using a mounted gate rather than a tension gate is that you retain almost the entire width of your door or hallway, so you don’t need to remove it very often. When you do remove the gate it’s tricky to get back in. You’ll have to align the two hinges on the gate with the two mounting brackets, and they don’t like to line up by themselves. Usually you’ll need two hands. This wouldn’t be a big deal except the gate easily pops out of the mounting bracket when you are opening and closing it. There is no reason they couldn’t have put a pin or lever to lock the mounting bracket on. The gate is also very tricky to close. If you are accustomed to a tension gate you can easily open and close then think again. To close this gate you have to maneuver the lower gate crossbar into the lower locking mount then slide the top crossbar into the corresponding upper locking mount, while holding open the lock itself. This is made much trickier because the gate itself doesn’t slide very well. It gets stuck at certain expansion points and you’ll need two hands to break through the sticky point while still guiding it into the locking holes. If you are putting it someplace that doesn’t happen to hit a sticky point in the expansion then it isn’t as bad, but if you have to overcome a sticky point each time you close the gate you will very quickly want to rip it off the wall. Finally the gate doesn’t have any feature to fix it open. If it isn’t locked it’ll just swing whichever way the wind blows it. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere. Update: because the bottom crossbar is longer than the top it is possible to undo the top but still have the bottom stuck in the retaining bracket, which can cause a trip. The gate is also flimsy or than expected, and my two-year-old was able to break some of the vertical slats. Once one was broken out he was able to squeeze through. I’ve used a bunch of duct tape to reattach it while I wait for better product to arrive. All in all, I consider this gate money down the drain as well as having put a bunch of holes in my wall to install it.

Looks nice but not sturdy
This gate looks really nice but it is very flimsy and I would never use this at the top of the stairs. I decided to try it at the bottom of the stairs. The install was not easy as far as lining up the mounts and wall lock. Once I closed it the gate got stuck on the lock latch. Also it is not easy to slide. This is unfortunately a gate I would not recommend.

Great
Been using this as our baby gate for the kitchen. Fits perfectly in our normal doorway. We didn’t add the feature to make it only open one way and it’s been great. Looks nice. Sturdy enough that my now-toddler shakes it and it doesn’t open. Lock is easy to use.

We bought our first gate two weeks ago and the third gate came yesterday. Best choice for our needs. We were going for aesthetics and reliability. Our one year old stands at the top of the stairs and rattles the gate like a caged monkey and the gates hold up nicely. Wood is darker than appeared in the original listing and box, which we were happy about. The width between our stairs are different from gate to gate and required some creativity to extend them and fit them properly. My wall joists rarely lined up with where I wanted my gates so I used drywall toggle bolts (115lbs) for the top of stairs gates and drywall anchors (35lbs) for the bottom of stairs gate. The trickiest part is screwing the brackets in accurately so that the gate is straight. I made lots of mistakes to get them straight. Some cool advantages: 1. Gates are quite loose in the brackets so there is little strain on the walls and anchors each time the gate is opened and closed. 2. Gates can lift out of the brackets and put aside at anytime, or can be attached anywhere else there are brackets in your home. You would need to buy their top of stairs accessory kit ($11 on the company's website) if you want to install brackets elsewhere in your home. 3. Very simple to use. My wife and 15 year old son have no problem getting the gates open, although my son now steps over the gate when it's closed. The third top of stairs gate came a little warped so it's not as simple to open and close, but it does the trick. UPDATE 6 MTHS LATER: Gates are great.

The first one we received was broken but a new one was sent out right away. This gate is pretty sturdy and my two year old can not figure it out. Even when she tries to move it it stays put. Would buy again if we needed another gate ! The colour is beautiful and matches our stained ash perfectly !!!

You can see it’s crooked. It doesn’t slide. Super frustrating as we drilled this into the wall and then it doesn’t work. Don’t buy.
