Relieving and Soothing Soap
It was nice to use a soap that cleans and moisturizes my skin at the same time. After a shower, my skin was soft like butter. The smell was not hard on my skin and gentle like the aloe.

Nice Soap But Not Direct Replacement For Real Ivory Soap
Edit after starting third bar: I'm considering deducting a star, but also adding one, so it's a wash. So to speak. The addition is because after using it for a while in rotation with the Etsy bars, I've realized it does indeed leave my skin silky soft. At 60 that's not something to take for granted. But the deduction is because bars 2 and 3 have had sharp "inclusions," ie hard bits that don't wear down and start causing actual pain when rubbing over my palms as I lather the soap. Bar 1 didn't do that (and is the one I ordered here -- the next two bars came from my local grocery store and possibly were both from the same batch since who knows how rapidly they sell out at the store). To be fair, towards the end of production the Ivory bars were occasionally doing that as well. But it's a QA problem. Bar 2 had about a 5th of it wasted since I tried grinding down the sharp hard bits that had emerged at both ends of the bar by rubbing them on the shower floor and the whole thing fell apart, making it useless. Original review: I've used Ivory for around fifty years. However, Ivory changed its formula within the last year to something that is completely different, and unpleasant to use. So I'm testing other soaps in search of something that does as well as Ivory used to. This review is therefore a comparison. The soap itself is quite nice and deserves the five stars, but isn't as nice for me as Ivory used to be. The comparison isn't through nostalgia glasses, as I have one final partial bar of Ivory in my shower and am doing direct tests on specific areas of my skin with that and the various soaps I am trying out. Size: Better than Ivory. Not downsized, this is a good handful of a bar, nicely shaped to give a decent grip. Lather: Creamier and thicker than Ivory. Not quite as effective (does not clear hair conditioner off my skin nearly as easily). Leaves a slight "residue" feeling, though only in direct comparison to the soft squeaky easy-glide clean real Ivory provides. Bar Feel: Softer than Ivory. Ivory has a very hard bar that generates lather without deforming. The Yardley feels like it could be gouged out by hard finger presses, though so far it's holding its shape after a few days of daily use. Smell: None, really, and I'm sensitive to perfume smells. There's a little scent but nothing I notice or gets the cats' interest after the shower. I like the Ivory smell, hard to describe but a close sniff always makes my eyes pop open. Yardley has no such effect. Results: Possibly better for my skin than Ivory. I've been fighting scaliness on the back of my upper arms, and that seems to have diminished recently, but as I am also using an exfoliating cloth, moisturizers, and the aforementioned other soaps, I can't say for sure that Yardley gets the credit for that. Overall I'm pleased with the Yardley even if it doesn't give me the completely de-greased clean feel of real Ivory, and will probably continue to buy it. (The other soaps I'm testing are tallow soaps from Etsy that behave rather like the Yardley, and I see that Amazon has a lot of full tallow soaps, so I could still find something closer to real Ivory if I keep looking, but the Yardley is tolerably good though not perfect for my specific wishes).

Just okay
I bought this to wash my face with. I'm 47 female. I Figured the lemon would have some brightening qualities. I like the smell of lemon and it sounds like it's moisturizing from the listing. Other reviewers are correct about the lemon scent not lasting long at all. I keep mine in a soap case so I don't have the problem of the bar siting out in the shower and getting wet all the time and therefore soft. I don't think it's brightened my face. It's just okay for moisturizing. Not a noticeable difference but it doesn't dry out my skin. It suds up well and I do feel my face is clean after but I won't buy this particular scent again. I'll look for another one that's more moisturizing
